Does anyone know the best directions using public transport to fellow grounds in the SSML?

I should be getting a lift to most away games but just in case, any help would be greatfully recieved

Gav you having a silly 5 mins here
I could give you details but it would be from Benfleet in Essex.
My point - unless everyone knows where you live how can they give you public transport links??

Yes I do, within walking distance. I meant travelling from Edgware/Hendon area on public transport. Looks like most of the grounds dont have transport links that close to them. Looks like trains then either a long walk or a bus/ taxi.

I hope to be getting lifts to most away games with our star striker and goalkeeper's dad

Gavin - You obviously don't drive and neither do I, I often get the train to games unless I can cadge a lift with one of the players although I'm not that bothered. You will enjoy getting to some of the away grounds this season, in particular Holmer Green, Leverstock Green, Aylesbury Vale, Langford, Harefield United and Biggleswade Town who are playing at Bedford United which is miles from a train station. Even Biggleswade United isn't easy as you need to get a bus from the town centre and Welwyn Garden City is also on the outskirts of town, London Colney isn't much better either as it's very much off the beaten track. Er have fun!

Gav,

In answer to your question the 114 is the best way to get to our ground from your neck of the woods. From Burnt Oak Station to Ruislip Manor station then a short walk (10 minutes) along Shenley Avenue which you'll pass on your left immediately before the station then third left then first left.

For Harefield I would suggest same bus from Burnt Oak but this time to Ruislip Station then 331 bus to Harefield village - Kings Arms pub. Ground is about 5 minutes walk down Breakspear Road South

Learn to drive or get a car is the answer.

I have no trouble in my roomy 4 x 4 do I Rhodes.

Much better than 'shanks pony'

I can drive, but I dont have a car right now.

Thanks lato for the info, do you drive Lato? Rhodes if you dont drive you must have to get lifts like me? I expect you will be at all the Kentish town games this season wont you?

Paula - Yes your car is great, plenty of room to manoeuvre on the back seat. Driving has never really appealed to me Gavin, I don't mind getting public transport and yes I will be at all Kentish Town's games this season, is the Pope Catholic!

Gavin - Well if you think that try being a First Division Club like us with trips to the delights of Milton Keynes almost every other week, our first game of the season is at Stony Stratford Town which is apparently miles from nowhere and that is one of the easier ones. New Bradwell St Peter is another Milton Keynes based Club where I went to last season with Haringey Borough Reserves and to be fair it's a nice place but certainly no fun to get to. Then there is Cranfield United, Amersham Town and Ampthill Town, the list is endless.

Folks - There's an interesting thread on another's Forum entitled, wait for it, 'Unhoppable Grounds' highlighting grounds that are located a 'significant' distance from railway stations, this link may be of interest and use to some:

I thought this link to grounds in Division 1 might be helpful to public transport merchants as the SSML handbook is geared very much to drivers and not everybody has cars:

Interesting directions for New Bradwell St Peter, I didn't know the ground was so close to Wolverton station:

Station: Wolverton 1m. Out of station and forward at roundabout into Newport Road, straight over next roundabout, then right into Bradwell Road and entrance to ground is on right just after turning for Mill Lane.
