Yiga

Keeping hold of Yiga would do us no favours. I would much rather see one of the young lads get a run out ahead of him if need be. I do agree that the squad looks thin though MM. One or two signings of players who have had some success at this level or higher would do the world of good although I do appreciate that you can't have quality and quantity all the time.

I agree! I am not Yiga to re-sign him either.

However injuries etc will take their toll and we do need to have a few useful lads ( my boss would say "team players") who can fill in the gaps as and when these occur.

Don't forget that we are running reserve and youth teams too and they will also have fixtures to fulfil!

Yiga may not be a fans favourite, but he's definitely a fan favourite, I think hes a good lad and player and if Deen, Brayley and the mighty Yig return, then they all have to be pushing for a first team place, as they're all good players, and really bulk out the squad.

I equally agree that Yiga is a good squad player, but probably not quite good enough to secure a regular first team place if we are going to be in upper echelons of the league.

it looks as though Sutton decided the same.

Qustion is-are the reserve players coming through any better.I have not seen enough of them to comment; but whilst reading good things about them, i just feel that so many youngsters flatter to deceive in nice sunny pre-season friendlies; but when the League season starts and the weather turns; its a completely different balll game, and thats when you need players who have been there and done the business,on muddy Ryman pitches.

Thats where we are short of players and could well be caught out.

I think that you'll soon realise that some of the best reserve players are the best that the local sunday league can offer. I reacon with the new reserve team and Wevs running it we'll get some good players coming through which is what its all about. Remember leyroy lita came up through the Margate youth ranks. Its players like him and the prospect of making money when league sides become interested in them, that will make this club grow. I like the clubs set up now in fact its never looked better. Steve Moore in charge of the 18's and Wevs in charge of the reserves. Two of the best footballing managers in Thanet. IMO things are starting to look up on the thanet football scene.

Hope you are right , but why does Alan Hanson keep echoing in my ears-'you don't win anything with ....'

That is not in any way meant to be disprespectful as from the one psf i saw, i was certainly impresed by one of the younger players; but as i keep on saying, its alot different plodding away week in week out, in winter than in a psf with the sun on your back and players looking to gain fitness and taking it a bit easy.

Semi-pro fooball is a completely different ball game where you need a diferent physical and mental attitude to a local league.

You can probabl go into a game with one younger player on the bench, but more than that is a recipe for relative failure

Remember last season how we all got excited about Sesay and Yiga.

The former is obviously continuing to attract interest, and will no doubt, develop further at an academy somewhere, but if we are honest, not many would have him as a first pick against a Ryman team with a few wily old pro's kicking him around
