just recieved this:

Ricketts completes his squad

Liam Daish has put the finishing touch to his new squad by signing former Charlton Athletic defender Mark Ricketts.

Twenty one year old Ricketts was born in Sidcup and was released by the Addicks at the end of last season. He was a prominent member of Charlton's reserve side in 2003/2004 before joining MK Dons on loan last term.

By arriving at Stonebridge Road he joins a growing community of former Charlton players which includes Charlie MacDonald, Stacy Long and Mark DeBolla.

"Mark can play at right back or centre half" said Fleet manager Liam Daish, " so he is exactly the type of versatile defender I have been looking for to complete my squad going into the new season. "

Very pleased with this signing, and generally impressed overall with the summers acquisitions.

We look a little light in midfield but with a little more luck on the injury front who knows?

I'm actually looking forward to the coming season, talking of squad sizes I have noticed that Grays onle appear to have the same size squad as ourselves , check

http://www.footballsquads.co.uk/ and you'll see that they still include Sestanovich & Slabber (who is after a transfer), but I don't think it includes thier two latest signings.

If you look at our team pic from last season, which has 23 players... of those McKimm and Porter were long-term injured, Wood and Maxwell were triallists who didn't make it, and another was Groombridge who didn't play, so we're no worse off than last season.

Probably better if you think it also included Manny and Surey who were gone very soon afterwards.

Sounds like a good signing.

Does 'finishing touch' and 'completes his squad' equate to used all the money?
I think we need another midfielder but the squad is looking better with each addition. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

As I understand it any further additions will be via loans. But who knows if we have a bit of a cup run. (Even two wins in the FA Cup is worth in excess of £20K to us)

That obviously means we couldnt come up with anything for Chris Anderson, which is a bit of a shame as Liam was seemingly keen on him & he did look quite decent in the MK Dons friendly during his limited time on the pitch.

Agreed, also Liam Coleman seems to be the other lad who completed pre-season but hasn't signed.
If the squad is complete then these two seem to have missed out but it would not be a massive surprise if one or both signed and we would certainly look more balanced with another midfield option.
