An obvious worthy cause ,so wish BB all the best with it,and still have that small hope that my last sighting of BB was at the Hendon game as he sat in the stand with i guess his son, cheering on the 'Gate.

In time when fortunes go against us, i guess it does us all a bit of good to remember that there are worthy causes out there and our players have their own families like ourselves

No-one has mentioned that it is quite an honour for Berti, and our club, to be associated with this competition.
I hope England do very well in it.

I thought putting this subject up with Berties participation was exactly that mention. Well that was the intention anyway. Indeed it should be seen as an honour not only the player but the club & its fans likewise. Sorry, maybe I didnt stress that point enough in the first place but that was the idea of bringing the subject up.

Did a post/report at one stage say that he wanted to be nearer his Essex home to be able to 'spend more time with his family'.

Always fair enough ,but you then usually find the player signs for a club in Cornwall !!

Tony, this thread is about his representation for the L.D National squad & as he is still registered with our club it is that that is the part-point of this thread. Congratulating him is the real point of this thread.

Yes,you did mention the fact about going off thread with this & the points you bring up are more than relevant to the man as a player on Margate Fcs books. But my point as mentioned further above & backed up by MF & that is that whatever his behind reasons for distancing himself from the club he IS still at this time classed as a Margate player therefore until he departs for good if indeed he does then our congratulations for his call up are & should be aired. I think its a good feat to be picked for any international side whether it be for the L.D team or any other team.I think he deserves that pat on the back.As for the rest I am sure you are near the mark but it isnt the point of this thread but I thank you for declaring that before you posted.

Seeing as though you went off thread I will for a second too.The club should use his call up to their advantage whilst he IS on our books. It shows(though possibly cheekily)that this club can still put out an international player no matter what the catagory & they should be using this information to their advantage in the same way that John Keister was often mentioned as being a Sierra Leonne international. Publicise it!

The points you make are possibly valid but the public who dont watch football dont know that. All they will know is that their local football club has yet another international in the ranks.I'm sure he will go into the history books as being that MFC further international to have turned out for the club. He may not be all that we hoped for OFF he pitch but with his talent ON the pitch he deserves some congratulations surely as one of OUR players to be called up.At least we know of that side of things but can only speculate about the other.

There,we both went off the point.

But in summimg up, Bertie, who we all praised so highly with his form on the pitch before all others arrived deserves some praise for having a talent(footballwise)in securing an international spot. He did us proud when he arrived didnt he?

Again Good luck to him. He certainly hasnt done me any harm yet,not personally & until I get firm evidence that he has let the club down then I will not desert the guy in his hour of glory.

Still we all think in different ways I suppose & I certainly wont begrudge others comments to the opposite as thats what the forum is all about.

Again no apologies for yet another long thread.
