Diversion!

Recommended Posts

The man who drives the green and yellow tractor has passed this on:

Kidderminster Harriers have informed us of a diversion in Kidderminster which could affect road travel to the game. They have recomended the following route to avoid delays.

Exit M42 at junction 1 and take the A38 towards Bromsgrove and Worcester. After 1/2 mile turn right at traffic lights to Bromsgrove. Go through Bromsgrove and turn right at mini-roundabout to Kidderminster. Go straight on at 1st traffic lights, past the Severn Valley Railway on your left then turn left into Hoo Road and the Aggborough Stadium is on the left.

The correct expression is "The chap who used to drive the red tractor".

We used to have a red tractor, pitch maintainance for the purpose of. It is believed that when the former Chairman left the club, the red tractor, its accroutrements, a tea urn, part of the PA system and a carved pumpkin - a modest work of art in its own rudimentary way - were loaded on a trailer behind his car never to be seen in the County again. Your guess is as good as mine, cityman. I have a picture in my mind of the car and trailer rattling out of Clarence Park at midnight pursued by the players and managers and a posse of baillifs and sundry creditors, with the former Chairman shouting over his shoulder out of the open window "Next time, I'll use me brain instead of me walletttttttt"

I haven't given up hope of the stuff appearing on e-bay or some such. We used to make the odd, casual enquiry when visiting certain new grounds, and old friends around the Leagues keep an eye open, but without success, unfortunately.

Anyway, the chap who used to drive the red tractor was then required to cut the grass with a hover mower from then on, and quite a task that was as you can imagine. Alternative arrangements were made when William Verry Ltd acquired the majority shareholding and our suspension from the Ryman League was lifted, of course. Ever since, the chap who used to drive the red tractor has been known in certain circles as the chap who used to drive the red tractor.

Err. That's it.
