GRS67
When supporting your local club really meant something.... The progressive advancement of the team has been compensated by a corresponding increase in the attendances, and it is immensely gratifying to the members of the original Management Committee, who can recall the days when the gates numbered a meagre half century of enthusiasts, huddled in a corner of the stand, to see the present attendance figures averaging some three thousand for league games (a ground record of 7,100 was established in the recent FA Cup game against local rivals in Wealdstone). It is not only on the field of play that the club can claim advancement, since their active Supporters' Club, with a membership of about 1,000 has provided a first class social centre for the players, officials and local fans. A spacious headquarters has been erected on the ground, where, after training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings a lively crown enjoy billiards, snooker, table tennis, darts and cards, while the inevitable discussions are in full swing. Light refreshments are always available.
