Hi, do you mind giving us Wombles the low down on him? He's signed papers with us, probably as a back-up CB. I don't mean to sound spiteful here but do you think he's good enough to play for a team that HOPES to be challenging at the top of the table, especially when he got relegated last season?

Kersey IMHO was the best centre half in that division last season. I know, I know but we got relegated (its what he had around him and in front of him!), but Kersey is Conference South standard, hence why Fisher, Heybridge were rumoured to be after him throughout the season, but he stayed to keep us up with loyalty to the previous manager. He will be a great signing for AFC Wimbledon and if you don't want him we'll love to have him back!

Ok, great. I'm not sure if he will be backup, that's just what I thought as we already have the same back 3 that kept out quite a few goals last season as well as adding Mark Rooney from Farnborough the other day. But, if he's as good as you say he is, hopefully he can be an active member of the squad.

Never thought he was as good as people made him out to be and i think he was just a good player in a poor side but i thought Coxy was gonna win us the league, FA Cup and the UEFA Cup so what do i know!

I possibly missed a posting and you'll excuse me if I am repeating old tosh, but do I remember seeing a photo of Kersey signing a contract extension or new contract towards the ar3e end of last season?

 

Did that contract have a relegation opt out clause or was it only a "to the end of the season contract"?

 

Will we get anything out of him signing for anyone else?

Doris, he had an opt out clause if we were relegated. I spoke to Lee on Thursday and he's gutted to be leaving but he wants to play at the highest level he can and you can't blame him for wanting to play in front of a decent crowd every week. He was training at Maidenhead but Simon managed to get him a trial at Wimbledon and, in return, we'll probably have a pre-season game against them next year.
