Ignoring the fact that their updating isn't exactly punctual, they're pretty crap.

 

IMO, there should be three or so, all of a similar size to the 'ST ALBANS CITY' sign that sits on top of the Cola Stand. Nice, big, stand-out type jobbies, that people can actually see. One should be placed on the fence directly opposite the entrance to the railway station, just before the bridge. One on the fence next to Verdis facing the Crown sort of direction, and maybe one on the York Road / Brampton Road junction. People would see them that way, no bigger than ones you see at Non-League clubs everywhere...

 

Just an observation on the way home from work.

Two quick points GHA.

 

Well, three actually if you count the "Well done for exercising initiative and demonstrating that you are constantly alert and ever mindful of any opportunity to increase the awareness of everything to do with The Mighty Saints.

 

Antway. Firstly. The existing boards were approved by the then District Council having taken full account of the views of the Clarence Park Users Association [Current Pres.: EFMTFTV]. Anything bigger than a postage stamp was considered likely to catch the eye of an unwary passer-by and might attract more punters into the Park and we couldn't possibly countenance that. Whatever next. etc. etc. etc.

 

[it occurred to me that as they have approved the blue stand, it might be an appropriate moment to put in a request to replace the current boards with two 68 feet square, neon lit, boards, each with a 12 foot outline of Gibbo on the top along the lines of Lord Kitchener and the "Your country needs you" thingy from the First World War.]

 

Err. That's it. Apart from the third thing, of course.
