The First Part of Yesterday's Double Header (For Me Anyway)

Recommended Posts

Went to watch the reserves yesteday (11am kickoff)... Tough opponents in Heybridge who finished quite high up in the E&HBC (2nd or 3rd) and who gave runouts to couple of players with first team experience.

Looks like the decision to go to reserve team football as this game was a lot tougher than practically all of the under 18 games I saw last season. Heybridge had about 4 or 5 units and played a game based on strength and power, whereas we played a lot better with the ball to feet and pass and move. Craig Prout and Lee Tydeman gave us a 2-0 lead, but Heybridge hit back after the break to level. Wayne Semanshia scored our 3rd with a header that hit the bar and keeper before going in, but Heybridge nicked the equaliser late on.

Very impressed with Prout, if he can show that he can compete in men's football (2 years ago he was in the u16s) then I wouldn't be surprised to see him knocking on Matt's door for the 1st team. Sean Axcell had a good game at left back - he played in the EFC semi final last season you may recall, and Greig English (I think he was in the u18s 2 seasons ago) looked good at centre back.
