Why should there be a restriction of opinion? If that was the case, then nobody would have any opinions whatsoever!

So are we meeting in the Wheatsheaf in Baker Street for AGM or do we have another venue? My vote is for the Holly Bush room I think it would be great for a formal event like an AGM.

Surely all depends on the number of society members there are who may be in attendance.

I agree, there is one place i wouldn't have it as well, The Wheatsheaf is too open to the public for an AGM

The AGM is a closed meeting and cannot be open to people who are not members of the society. I am sure everyone knows this.

You would make an excellant choise as a director steph ,Go for it mate . Your connections with the ethnic/asian communities can only do good for them . They do feel alienated in our society and thats very sad and it could be an ideal opportunity to get them involved.

Yes but at least the information has commanded a contribution towards our club funds rather than a significant financial contribution towards a rival club in the same league!

But what's Changed? We were happy at one point to have our AGM's at The Downs bar.What has occurred to change that situation?Is it EFC's recent involvment with the Downs?

What is EFC's involvment with The Downs? Have they bought it? If they hire it on certain evenings, as we do, (or did), then obviously they won't have hired it on the same evening as us. If you're worried about the bar staff making notes or taping the meeting, or using hidden cameras or bugs concealed about their clothing or in the pot plants, surely that could ocurr wherever you hold the meeting if there is a bar in the same room. Otherwise it lookes like a church hall or something is required.

 

Frankly I'm more interested in copies of minutes being made available to members who can't get to meetings...........

I understand that EFC pay Brimsdwon SSC rent to run the Downs as their 'clubhouse'. Subsequently, if we were to hire the bar for an evening, any hire fee and profits behind the bar would go to EFC. Personally, I would never be prepared to see my money go to EFC and I know a number of other people who think the same and would not attend any event held in the Downs bar.

 

If I am wrong in my understanding of the situation then I apologise but I think I am correct.

Ah, I see, so EFC have rented the thing lock stock and barrel so to speak. Quite understand the reluctance to sub-rent it then!

No you are not correct the downs are run by Fran for Brimsdown and anything financial is between her and them not ETFC or EFC.
I would like to point out that we use it for training and our do's but we have to pay for it like everyone else
