a very strong performance from the urchin team against a lively and skilful ricay....after 10 minutes we settled down and scored through mark janners after 30 minutes (ish)

 

1-0 at half time and the same pattern after the restart with the second goal coming from billy holland who rose superbly above the defence at the far post to head home a tiffin cross....

 

could have had a couple more but has to be mentioned that at 1-0 in the first half young dale made two superb saves from the ricay forwards...

 

good day out again with a gate of 310 and a nice (very) hot sunny day....pitch superb and should get a much earned rest for 15 days now unless we play leyton orient on thursday...watch this forum and the website for news on that..

Could easily have had more goals and I am sure once Kris Lee settles in he will be buring the chances.

 

Despite our dominance Dale in goal was MOM for me with several excellent saves

On reflection, a good day and nice visitors. I know they had some triallists in their team but when the armoury came on there was no difference.

Big thanks to SK for the chatter and info and as I said there was someone from New Lodge missing.

Len Jewson was part and parcel of the Billericay club ever since I can remember but passed away some 2/3 years ago, always made us very welcome and indeed attended our Darlington match, it was on a Sunday, wearing his New Lodge tie.

I somehow felt he was looking down yesterday cos he was football mad.

We roll on to another seaside town next week, anyone booked into Fawlty Towers?

Excellent performance which started at the back and went right through a team showing discipline and patience. Second half a couple of Ricay boys tried to unsettle us with some rough stuff, but it failed. We looked assured, played some lovely football and look in great shape for the start of the new season.

sorry max but the darlo game was on a saturday surely as we all watched the live saturday teamtime draw on the box as we got tranmere...can't think the draw was on a sunday..
