John, there's no doubt about that, but why bother thinking about what could have been with Sodje? Luke Moore and Chukki look to be building a great front-line relationship and Raphael certainly will be an asset. He'll be missed, but not as sorely as I personally first expected.

Technically, though, we didn't let him go, as we offered him a contract. Arguably, starting him more often may have persuaded him to sign that contract, but then again if York waved more money at his agent, maybe we hadn't much chance anyway.

That's not the story I heard. As I understand it, his immigration status, possibly as a student, means he cannot sign a contract.
