According the the much praised St Albans Observer, Gary Roberts has parted company with the club leaving Steve Cook as sole manager.

 

Now remind me, who was it who invited John Gibson to be Chairman?

GARY ROBERTS has parted company with St Albans City FC after being asked to leave his position as co-manager.

 

Steve Cook, who had formed the previous management team with Roberts, has been named as the new manager of the club.

 

Differences in opinion about matters on the pitch between chairman John Gibson, the board and Roberts led to the decision, with Gibson opting to hand over the reigns to Cook.

 

"I've always had it in my mind that this club should have one manager and we opted for Steve (Cook)," said Gibson.

 

Roberts joined the club in May 2001 and was instrumental in bringing Gibson to the club in February earlier this year.

I'm not sure Steve Cook will be able to cope soley on his own. Weren't he and Gary good friends? Bit un-loyal if Cookie stays much longer.

 

And don't get me started on the timing of the dismissal...4 days before the Aldersh#t match.

Interesting that Robbo was the one to go. Bit of a controversial chap as we all know, but out of the two, if someone had said 'one will leave,' I know I would've said Robbo will stay.

Calm down chaps. Perhaps we should wait to see what the official statement says. Given the sub-standard performances over the last 15 or so games and the dwindling crowds something had to be done. Whether this is the right decision remains to be seen.

You can't just sack one of the two managers due to bad performances, surely Rob? That's why they are 'joint.' Which is why I don't see Cookie staying much longer.
