GHA and the £100

Recommended Posts

Quote from GHA, 13 December: “I had to go down to the park the next day on my own accord to pick up £100 he owed me. And I was just the kit man.”

Sorry to labour this point, but given that the Club had financial problems that we all knew about, how is it that you could justify taking £100 to be kit man, GHA? Surely enjoying the involvement should have been enough.

I’m a bit new at all this. Did Webbo get paid to do the website? Did the t-bar crew? Did the stewards? Does the current kit man?

I just think back to all the fund-raising that used to be done, the scratchcards, the raffles, etc. Was it all done to line the pockets of people like the kit man?

Surely, given the financial position, it should have been donated back?

Or is it a case of “not what can I do for my club, but what can my club do for me”?

It would be interesting to hear the views of those other than the beneficiary of the said £100!

A tenner a match and a fiver for training isn't exactly breaking the bank, is it Jimmy? And the managing staff usually do get paid (Kendall, Wood, Greene, Beavis, GHA). The t-bar lot do. The stewards get in for free I believe, and are getting paid soon. I have no knowledge of the contracts of either Webbo or the Land Speed Record himself, John Fennely.

The fund-raising you talk about still is done.

You're missing my point Mr GHA.

At our club I perceived that we have those that give and those that take.

Those that contribute and those that receive.

If I was asked to be kit man (which I have no desire to be I hasten to add) I would only do it for the love of the game and NOT FOR PERSONAL GAIN.

If I was offered money to do something for the club I would be embarrassed.

We, the supporters, should all put into our club what we can to improve it and take it forward. Not take it out.
