Braintree Town 2-1 Enfield Town

Scoreline

Recommended Posts

2-0 down at half-time, pulled one back in the second half through Neil Hughes.

Another encouraging performance apparently. Unlucky not to come away with a draw.

Jerome John in goal, fresh from a Championship winning season with Tonbridge Angels. For me, a great signing, if he stays.

For those who missed the game it was very entertaining Braintree on top in the first half but Town who only had a 12 man squad dominated the second half Neil Hughes scoring for the Town some very encouraging signs for the new season.

The team was..

John, Campbell, Bastian, Stephens (Lahome 45), Tickner, Smith, Crace, Velandia, Hughes, Hunt, Caicedo.

Stephens was captain in the first half, Crace in the second.

We played 4-3-3 in the first half and 3-5-2 in the second.

The second half performance was excellent by the lads.

A very enjoyable Town performance and with a bit of luck a couple of the penalty area scrambles might have gone our way. Great to see JJ in goal.

George was as loud and colourful of language as always and the arguments between their own players was class!!

Any reason why we only had 12? I'm guessing it's because it was a mid-week friendly and the players were busy/on holiday.

JJ played up front once for Enfield, I think. Came on late as a sub in some small cup competition.
