PB vs Hendon

Recommended Posts

Quote from PB match report...

"James Dickie opened the scoring in the second minute with a direct free kick from sixty yards (yes, sixty yards) which gave Hendon 'keeper Richard Wilmot no chance as it found the top corner and clattered the stanchion. "

Now can anyone confirm this? As the range for the length of a pitch is between 100 and 130 yards.. so could've been in his own half?

Sounds like bad goal keeping to me! I'm not a full time keeper and I'd be confident I could stop any kind of effort from the opposition half!!

the sun was in his eyes, plus he was totally insighted and the big late deflection didnt help !

Surely 'insight' would've helped the keeper!!?? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Just to confirm, the free kick was taken from 5-6 yards inside the Potters Bar half, about 10 yards to the left of the centre circle and hit the stanchion in the top right hand corner of the goal. James Dickie then ran towards the bench shouting "I told you I'd do that this season!". Manager shouted back "Should have saved it for an important game!". Hendon manager sat back in his dugout and told his assistant "You've just got to applaud that!". His assistant did!

Just wondering why a new thread was started for this subject as we already have one entitled

'Games This Afternoon'. As I said the Potters Bar v Hendon game on Saturday has certainly created a large number of talking points for a variety of reasons which must delight our friend Potters Bar Town who seems to court controversy and often throws a firework into the ring knowing that we will take the bait.

Don't play the innocent Potters Bar Town, we've known each other too long. You also never have a bad word said against Potters Bar hence your defending them on Saturday, this is not a criticism as most of us are biased when it comes to our own teams such as Gavin for example and our Hertford Town and Ruislip Manor friends.

Pretty dificult to say bad words about your club when your chairman reads it all and knows who you are!!!

on the flip side as long as it's constructive and not just aimless slagging off then I'm sure people won't mind!

NeutalFan - Yes I agree but it doesn't help when you have got some people in here, no names mentioned, stirring things up and purposely throwing in comments that are likely to wind others up. Gavin for example is obviously very passionate about his football and you need to be constantly treading on egg shells with him or World War III is likely to break out.

It's all part of the fun and occasionally i'll throw my two penneth in after a couple of bottles of hard nut on a Friday lunchtime! You just have to pick and choose what bits you get involved in and what bits you don't.
