is going to be the best since our days in the conferance, everything on the pitch looks great so far, what a team we`ve got , Trottys done a great job so far 9 unbeaten as a manager , just a shame the attendances are so low though , but reckon we will have 750-800 , 1st home game .ROLL ON THE 22nd august . <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

we have been a bit success starved have'nt we !!

Having said that-my expectations are a bit lower than most i think.

This looks an exceptionally strong league this year.

Would like a FA Cup run and accompanying publicity and

funding it brings to the club though

Its certainly not going to be easy Michael thats for sure. But is nice to go to a game knowing that our chances of a victory are good & that we have players there this time good enough to give us hope for a successful season. By no means is any team going to walk away with this league this coming season,us included. Our chances however are better than some this season & a lot lot better than our chances were of succeeding last season, & thats without getting too carried away with it all.I just hope people come out in bigger numbers & support a very very decent set of players.

The club has made available the money to buy these players.Trotty has got us those players & the players are responding. Its now our turn to respond by turning up at games.Or should I say the "stay away fans" the "new fans" & the "old faces".

I think we will do very well and I've put my money where my mouth is but I don't want to upset the football gods and put a curse on us by saying where I expect us to finish. I have a strong feeling we are in for a great season though. Every player is class and above all else they are already bonding as a team.

Hopefully this is the last post Kinnear gets a mention among the high hopes we have for this season. Did well but towards the end a shadow of what it was. Very dated approach. I pity the club who takes him on with his wages. Hopefully thats the last of it. How much better is the football now!

While this is true Geoff football at this level is developing more and more as the seasons go by, and it has become even harder to reach the conference national with the addition of two extra leagues (conference north and south). Each season we see more teams who like to get the ball on the floor and not just go for the big hoof upfront. The main flaw that CK found with his tactic of playing the long ball was that the last two seasons Margate have not had a striker with immence pace, with Braithwaite(in his prime)Margate had someone who was getting on the end of these longs balls and creating oppertunaties.

To be fair, the quality of some of the pitches did not help 'flowing football',and there will be plenty of times this season when our silky passing skills literally get stuck in the mud.

Fortunately, i think in likes of Protheroe and McKimm we now have the players to grind it out on those wet November nights.

Won't it be great to have an away win on a tuesday night.

Somehow , you just knew we would never win away on a Tuesday -and winning at home on a tuesday was equally rare !!

I remember a cold night at Dover when we hamered Acrington Stanley 3-1 with some silky passing round the pitch and the odd long ball down the field straight onto the end of a players foot , CK knew his football and thats a game i will always remember and thank him for .

But life goes on and RT is now in place , and with the players he has bought in you can see { if youve watched a game so far } that the silky passing days are about to return to Hartsdown , in my book thats progress , we could be 10 unbeaten after the Chatham game thats real progress, get on a prove to the douters that are left RT that this is the way the game should be played . UP THE GATE>>>>>>>>>>.

Yes I too am excited about the new era but if CK had left this club in it's darkest days there would've been a very strong possibility the club would have gone under without a manager to just about hold it all together. How fickle some people are-or maybe they're just fick.

I really do have to support Geoff Pay on this one. CK got us into the Conference and it was not he but circumstances that took us out. We also had some memorable FA Cup games against the likes of Fulham and Leyton Orient. I think that we should also bear in mind the fact that it was CK who brought the likes of Danny Hockton, Robin Trott, Lee Protheroe, Osman Sesay etc to the club, not to mention numerous other players who we have seen over the past few seasons.

Let's accept the fact that he served the club well and remember his achievements.

It will happen one day thats for sure. Why not Trotty? Lets get behind Trotty instead of bringing up his predessesor all the time. Ck was a magician & an icon & I doubt there are many that would disagree with that but please lets concentrate now on the future & lets move on.

This thread is after all entitled "this season" & not those gone by.

This is going to be a highly competitive season this season as they are about 4 or 5 teams capable of winning the league including ourselves and then you can add about another 5 to that, that are good enough to finish in the play-off spot. Having said that i think we will finish 3rd but i dont know whether or not we will get promoted as i havent seen the other teams.
