GRS67
An entertaining and quite pyhsical pre season game saw hounors even in this local derby pre season fixture. Edgware had a lot of new players / trialists on show, and Wingate fieled two full teams one per half. Our first half performance was very good, and we deserved to go in a goal up. Second half Wingate brought on eleven fresh legs, and we sitll had five or six from the first half. It told in the end, as they started to create more chances. However, we went 2-0 in front, and seemed to be heading for victory before they pulled back one with a very good goal, then they drew level with another good move. All in all, a good display by a lot of new faces. That will no way be our strongest side, but we are getting a good depth to the squad and that has to be good for the new season. Rhodes
Yes nice one Gavin, thanks for the effort, how come you didn't get us all guessing again as to which game it was, that was a classic last week.
GRS67
Cheers, er... because I had posted I was going to see Edgware v Wingate lol
Rhodes
Well some people on here might still not have twigged, they might have thought it was Hendon in green and said Potters Bar Town v Hendon. Having studied your high quality photographs the ground does look somewhat ramshackle in places but the pitch looks okay, how is the drainage and do you get many postponements in the winter months. RH1
I think The White Lion is one of the better step 5 grounds. Enjoyed playing there. Changing rooms are ok as it goes as well. Corner taking space is on the small side but doesn't really matter, most teams can't put a good corner in anyway The club house is nicer then most, to be fair it will be a much nicer away day then most in that league! GRS67
Cheers Rak, who do you play for? Rhodes, so you liked my pics? I had some better oens, but they were bigger and this site wont let you download large pics. Ramshackle, ahh.. isn't that just another word for caracter? same as Claremont road. The pith was actually pretty green, when you consider the lack of rain we have had. The sand on the pitch is due to work being done on the pitch to improve the suface. The club hope to have one of the best playing surfaces in the local non league area. As for postponed games, I can't remember any from home games last season. Draiange was a MAJOR problem at Hendon's ground a couple of years ago with MANY games postponed. I think they have done a lot of work to the pitch, BUT Claremont road is prone to more postponed games then the WLG.
RH1
Err as you no I was at Edgware the last month of last season and a lot of the season before. I'm now at Hendon. Always look out for Edgwares results though. Would like to get down the WLG to see a gamne if ever I get the chance!
GRS67
Oh ok, you play for Hendon's first team? PM me your name.....How do you think Hendon will do this season, most people have them as relegation faves . Rhodes
As Rak knows Hendon have the great Takumi Ake playing for them so I wouldn't have thought they would be in any danger of relegation although strangely the Manager there doesn't always start him and if he's constantly on the bench he may get fed up and leave. RH1
To be fair we are one of the favourites for relegation (just check out skybet/bet365) however football doesn't always work like that. I'm not going into a season expecting to get relegated, I reckon we will stay up I guess anything else is a bonus. Although I will be hoping and trying to get us as far up the table as is possible. Takumi is technically very good with quick feet, but it seems comunication is a problem wayne o sullivan for hendon looked absolutely class!!!!
