GRS67
Anyone going to games this afternoon, or playing this afternoon? I am off to see Edgware v Wingate & Finchley, should be a good game. Wingate are a nice club and their chairman has a soft spot for Edgware, often coming to watch us play when Wingate dont have a game.
Horace
Going to see Hertford play at Standon & Puckeridge (Herts County League). Our first pre-season friendly!
RED_ROBBO
I'm off to see Roy Boon's new look Langford play at HSCL Buntingford. Will post result later if anybody is interested.
Rhodes
Went to Potters Bar Town v Hendon this afternoon, I had to leave shortly after half time with Potters Bar leading 2-0 and playing really well, no doubt our friend Potters Bar Town will give us the final score later. Well impressed by the programme produced for the game which covered four home friendlies in little over a week at their Parkfield ground, less impressed by the pitch though which looked worn and the grass had not been cut particularly well if at all. Can't believe you left early! You missed me and Tak coming on and Tak pulling a goal back (final score 2-1). Think we made the difference lol

Wondered where you went. Couldn't find you at half-time to offer you a cuppa and couldn't see you anywhere in the second half. Pitch is actually doing fine. We usually leave it a bit on the long side at this time of year. It helps later in the season. Glad you liked the programme. It was actually a bit shorter in page size than our normal issue but I couldn't really be bothered to write much more at this time of year. Not a bad free kick for the opener, eh? Not sure that Rak touched the ball very much but he wasn't on the field long. Our Ruislip friends on here won't be surprised to hear that Takumi was throwing himself all over the place. There was one classic in the second half where, admittedly, he was fouled but he went down as if he'd been the target of an invisible sniper in the crowd! Referee said he would have booked him in a League game for the dive.
RH1
I did actually touch the ball quite a few times in the 17 minutes I was on! Probably more then most in that 17 minutes. Thank you very much I think thats a bit much of the ref to say he would have booked Tak. In fact the attitude of the Potters Bar players to Takumi is poor, it was the same last season when he played for Haringey. Fair enough that day he went down easily but he was getting kicked all over the place and getting no protection from the ref. Even today it was a case of we can't tackle the guy fairly so lets just kick him. Whats he going to do? Cause he will go down. And in the bar after rather then being polite, for no reason a couple of the Bar players told him to 'F*** Off'. Whats all that about? If you can't be hospitible just say nothing! And Tak was in their on his own and there was a group of Bar players, I call that bullying. Pathetic. Sorry if you don't like the post Potters Bar but I think another side should be put accross rather then anti-Takumi drivvle that seems to come out at every chance. Football Man
Did anybody from Hendon report this so-called incident of "bullying" so it could be dealt with? Why was he in the bar on his own? Don't the other Hendon players like him? If the behaviour you suggest did occur I would not condone it for one minute, but I would suggest he concentrates on showing respect and fair play on the pitch (i.e. not falling over to gain illegal advantages and/or get opposing players booked or, in other words, cheat), he might find he gets the same respect in return. I thought it was refreshing to hear a referee say that he recognised the cheating was going on and that he would have dealt with it appropriately in a competitive game. We only played one game against Haringey last season; a tame, pedestrian-paced friendly in the early part of the season. Nobody was kicking anybody in that game and nobody needed any protection from the referee.
Rhodes
Now, now children be nice, I think I'm justified to put my two pennysworth in about Takumi having 'introduced him to English football' (my claim to fame) and we could argue all day about his so called diving. At the end of the day he is a very special talent which people don't seem to appreciate and I feel that he would be better suited to a higher level such as the Conference South, Conference or even League football where he wouldn't be unceremoniously kicked to pieces and receive little or no protection from inexperienced Referees. Afterall if he wasn't fouled in the first place in an old fashioned Uraguay style which, to be fair, is often the only way to stop him, then he wouldn't have the need to throw himself over which can come across as diving but a foul is a foul at the end of the day. neutralbob
i went to watch a few mates play for hendon v potters bar, and have to say i was extremely disappointed with hendon, awful at the back apart from vargs! potters bar look a decent well organised side, think a few of them have played together in SSML when brook were there and that surely must help them. superb goal form the left back, great goal from tak (looks excellent, dives far too much!!!) i was told that hendon had an off day, i hope so coz if they didnt they r going down, they were truly awful! Rhodes
Neutralbob, you should have identified yourself on Saturday and we could have had a beer, Potters Bar Town and Rak from on here were also there so we could have all compared notes. I don't necessarily agree that Hendon were awful, they lacked a bit of fitness if anything and Potters Bar played above themselves infact they were quite impressive and could do well this season. Yes Tak is something else and a breath of fresh air to the game at our level, I think the diving thing is being exaggerated as if you are constantly being kicked up in the air you are bound to go down like a sack of spuds, as I keep saying a foul is a foul at the end of the day.
