Rhodes
Great stuff HTFCew, many thanks for your trouble. Welwyn Garden City at home eh, draw of the second round!
GRS67
Why have some clubs got a bye? is this like the league cup? any other cups where you can play all the clubs from all the three divs?
Manorborn100
This is the league cup Gav, it's just called the Challenge Trophy. You'd have thought the holders would have got a bye in round 1 but then this is the SSML. Anyone know where Caddington is?
AWK
Caddington is sort of between Luton and Dunstable Manorborn. League Cup byes, there needs to be a correct amount of teams in Round two and onwards, for example there are 32 teams (16 ties) in round two, half of these go through to make 16 teams (8 ties) in the next round and so on until you get two teams in the final. For no one to get a bye in round one there would have to be 64 teams competing, which there isnt so to make the numbers match then some teams get lucky and go straight into the next round. I hope that makes sense.
Rhodes
Informative as ever AWK, are you happy with your draw away at Loughton Orient, you should get through that one for a money spinning home tie against Colney Heath or Padbury United! As you say byes are unavoidable, trust Hertford Town to get one.
Manorborn100
Yes as you both say byes are unavoidable with the number of teams in the league, just thought it strange that the holders didn't qualify for a bye. Still look forward to visiting Caddington.
AWK
Yes looks a good draw for us and would be a big disapointment if we didnt go through. Not sure about money spining, 61 dont charge to get in! Still would look forward to taking on a Premier Division side in the next round though, assuming that Colney should beat Padbury of course. Must admit i dont mind byes, its normally our best chance to get through to the next round
Rhodes
Well Liverpool had to qualify for the Champions League after winning it the previous year so I wouldn't complain too much Manorborn. Caddington play at the Caddington Recreation Club, quite a small set up I gather which won't phase Julian Hudson too much, you should win at a canter and then I see you will go to Brimsdown Rovers in the second round, talk about the luck of the draw. GRS67
Loughton Orient, great name, wonder if they have ever had a game with Leyton Orient.
BBFC11
another possibility of a V&E Hertford games i cant wait.....
Rhodes
Yes some great ties and talking points, what about the Leverstock Green v Oxhey Jets game, how many players will be left on the pitch after 90 minutes, and Tring Corinthians v London Colney will be interesting. I think our game with Biggleswade United will be one of the matches of the round although I'm bound to say that, United don't travel that well and won't relish a trip to Hendon particularly following all the negative comments from Gavin about the ground on here. GRS67
Dont get upset Rhodes, all I am saying is that in a lot of your posts you mention how Kentish Town will be a in your words ' man united' of div 1' just because you are playing at Hendon's ground. I like Claremont road, have watched many many many games there, and was pleaased when they said they were not leaving just yet. All I am saying is that Hendon is not that great, in fact it's prob one of the worst in the Ryman prem, if not the worst. If you were playing at Boreham wood for example, then I would say that is a nice decent well maintained ground.
Rhodes
Well perhaps we will be groundsharing with Boreham Wood next season, it's anyone's guess where we will be from one season to the next which as I say isn't ideal but I think we could have done worse than Hendon. I agree that the ground is in a sorry state of disrepair but as AWK pointed out it's still a highly regarded ground with the anoraks and connoiseurs of football, we'll be getting quite a few floating fans down I would have thought. Also the bar facilities are second to none and Hendon are doing all the sarnies for us and the cleaning of the dressing rooms etc so we can't complain. RobbieO
Mr Rhodes - i cannot wait to get there, and i can assure you that we will be coming all guns blazing!!! i'm a bit surpised about this rumour that we son't travel well. Last year we beat Broxbourene, Hanwell, Leverstock, Ruislip, Langford, Holmer Green, london Colney, and drew with Hillingdon all away from home - None too shabby! Rhodes
RobbieO - No but how did you do at Haringey Borough, that's what I'm using as a yard stick.

Rhodes
I thought it was one swallow doesn't make a summer. You had better not let Kevin, sorry Potters Par Town, hear you calling me Clifford or he won't be best pleased, we have to stick to our handles in here. Manorborn100
Sorry Cliff, I didn't mean to blow your cover. Maybe you should have called yourself something else other than Rhodes and then talk about your (previous) association with Haringey. Your identity might still have been a mystery.
