GRS67
Does anyone know if you can place bets on the Spartan league? where would you find odds? Can you just pop into a local bookies and place a tenner on Edgware to win the league?
NeutralFan
I don't think so. The only betting I've found for level 5 footie is in the FA Cup and FA Vase. You can pick up some pretty good odds but you can take a hit on upsets!! What's the take on the forum about players betting on games they are involved in? I'm of the stance where it's ok as long as they don't back themselves to lose.
GRS67
If you can bet on will it or wont it snow on xmas day or rain for a certain ammount of days etc etc, then it seems odd you cant put a bet on a team from a semi pro football league winning the title. NeutralFan
Thing is that 'semi pro' / amateur football would require too much inside knowledge as to which clubs are paying players etc for the bookies to get value. They can offer odds on snowing etc as there are 100's of years of statistics on when this happens.
Rhodes
Gavin - I'll try to find out for you, I think one of the internet firms takes bets at our level. I would be careful though if I were you if you were planning to go in big and have your house on Edgware as you could get your fingers burned, I make Harefield United slight favourites. I remember cleaning up once on snow at Christmas, I did a double involving Norwich and Newcastle who were both 4/1 and they came in, as you can see I'm very much a two flies climbing up a wall merchant. GRS67
Cheers Rhodes, I was just going to put a tenner on us, but would be interested if there was any odds.
NeutralFan
I use bet365.co.uk for Vase games, nothing listed as yet. Only tend to come up the week before the games
BBFC11
i always suggest when playing in the FA Cup that we put a big wager on us to lose then throw the game......

Rhodes
I spoke to a mate of mine who's in the bookie game, he's prepared to lay Edgware to win the SSML Premier at 6/1, quite generous odds I would have thought but obviously knows Harefield United, Aylesbury and Hertford Town are likely to be stronger. Still at least Gavin can put his tenner where his mouth is.
GRS67
Nice one Rhodes, let me know the details in a PM if you like, I will take a tenner at 6/1. Does he give the odds for all the sides in the SSML prem?
Rhodes
Gavin - I've texted my contact and told him you want a tenner at 6/1 which will probably be enough to bring the price down to 5/1, you can give me the tenner if you come down to a game at Hendon soon. I'll ask him about other teams such as Hertford, Harefield and Aylesbury but I think he will just quote when asked about individual Club's rather than create an 'official' book or else he'll be knocked over in the rush. Wonder what the odds on Haringey Borough are to stay up.
