Okay, no offence meant but Les Ferdinand is pretty famous in footballing circles, just wondering whether he paid like everyone else. No as we have only recently negotiated the ground share with Hendon we are still trying to sort out dates and when we can use the stadium, league and cup games during the season won't be a problem as long as we avoid their home games. We are hoping to have a friendly at Ruislip Manor next Thursday however our players are naturally fit and we don't feel that friendlies for the sake of it are life or death, we're pretty confident we will hit the ground running on 19 August. The only problem will be our Man Utd of division 1 tag, 1974/1975 style, with teams at our level coming to a palatial place like Hendon to play and will be all out to impress.

...
Rhodes mate...have you been to Hendon's ground lately? its' um....not the best it was. To be frank it's in a real bad state. Sure, the bar/ function rooms are still nice, but remember this is a ground that was ready to be pulled down at the end of last season. Hendon are still looking at options to move, I dont see Claremont road being their home much longer sadly.

A lot of money is needed if they do stay, to bring the ground up to standard. I went by there the other day, and it was not a pretty site.

Sure, compared to most of the places you visiti in the Spartan league it comes up well as a true football ground, BUT...dont get too dissapointed when you realize that playing at Hendon's ground is not actually that wonderfull.

Not sure about that Gavin
Hendons Claremont Road is one of the old school grounds and In my opinion has loads of character.
It needs some money thrown at it but what grounds do you know that don't.
The white lion springs to mind.

Thanks for the support Maldini, Hendon will be like Wembley to some players who would never get a smell of playing at such a high profile gound steeped in football history. Yes AWK clearly we are always searching for our own ground but ideally this has to be in the London Borough of Camden that sadly has very little in the way of green spaces and sporting facilities, I have regular meetings with local Councillors and we tried to get in on the Kings Cross Development Project but, surprise surprise, office blocks and housing was more important than welfare of local kids, trying to get them off street corners and off sniffing glue and doing drugs.

That seems to be the way of things now Rhodes, they dont seem to realise what benefits having clubs like Kentish Town around the area can bring. Want to build an office block or retail park, no problem, want to build a football club that can benefit the local area, sorry no room.

Oh it has character, and it has falling down stands and peeling paint.

A once great ground of amauter football (England used it for training sessions during the 1966 world cup!!!!) has now fallen into disrepair.

Still, the floodlight plyons are a sight of a real football ground.

Compared to grounds with rope around the touchlines and a tiny hut, if that, they sure its going to be good to play at, but dont ge the idea its anything special anymore.

Actually our ground is in a LOT better shape then Hendon's. The only plus they have is terraces beind both goals, but the weeds have taken over and need to be cut back. Our seating stand is better then Hendons with a much better view, as its a lot higher up, and Hendon's is low down and wooden.

Grafiti is all over the outside of Hendon's ground, and the once proud side terrace has seen many better days. I will never understand why they cut half the roof of it a few years back, now its just falling down.

Edgware's side terrace is maybe in need of some new guttering, but the terraces are fine and even have bright yellow lines down the steps, as ordered by the league when the scum groundshared with us.

As I said only the terraces behind the goal at Hendon are better then Edgware, apart from that we have one of the best grounds in the whole Spartan league I would wager.

Piss off bob, you said you hate our ground, just cause you cant take corners at the WLG LOL.

Brook as I said is a nice tidy ground, but it has no character, or peeling paint, by the looks of it, so thats a plus point. I must say I dont like these new tin pot 'kit' style grounds. Went to Tooting last season, ok, nice big stand and terraces but still not as good as their old at Sandy Lane.

Great pitch Met Police. Did a reserve game there against Brook House. Manager of the Police came in at the start and apologised for all the moaning his players were going to do. "You are the only guy that they can moan at without being reported or sacked"

Brook manager was even funnier !

No. It was a couple of season ago and it was a white guy. Met Police dicked you 3-0 and Brook were abysmal. About 20 minutes to go I see the BH manager leaving the dug out and speak to the assistant before marching off into the dressing room. When the game finished I asked my asst what he ahd said. "Excuse me lino but I am off into the dressing room before the ref sends me there for calling all my players Fecking sh1t"

Gave me a giggle.
