Tonight's game

Sorry I am afraid you all but a few missed the point,

The club printed a programe with the fleet players names in it and beside these names there were shirt numbers.

As there was a number of new players on display, to someone as thick as myself, I would have expected the number on there shirts to match the numbers in the programe like every other team in the leauges. but sadly they never. If the team sheet section of the programe had been left blank, one could have filled out the names and numbers as they were announced,or end up as I did,and wrongly assuming the numbers on the shirts matched the player that was wearing those numbers.

As these shirts numbers hold no relevance to final squad numbers.I would have thought this to be very easy but guess I am wrong.if you took the time to read the some of threads on this part forum they would also see that I was not the only confused one there. The goal keeper thing was a error on my part it seems, but the rest nah

I have not missed your point Busta......it seems a valid one. However, I feel that I could not contribute to the factual side of the discussion as I was not at the game. However, as per usual, I have tried to enter into the not so serious side of the thread, in order to try and inject a tad of humour, which, as per usual, seems to have failed......I'll go and crawl back under a stone.

Cheers.

For a league match, this would almost certainly be the case.

However, for pre-season friendlies, what with squad numbers yet to be allocated and often several trialists on show, I suspect many other Conference sides print squad lists that give incorrect numbers. Assuming that the numbers in the programme will be correct for such games is inadvisable.

It's just as well that the team was correctly announced over the tannoy then, wasn't it?

I went to a friendly yesterday, every name matched every name of every player. and the funny thing was because of that the whole stadium new who these players were including the ones having a wee, and those who had yet to get into the ground.so announcing correctly over the tannoy or not did not make a flying pig of a difference

So it seems that whilst the current system for naming the players one to eleven in programmes before squad numbers have been issued and announcing the changes before kick off works fine for most people it isn't fool proof, since there are no more home friendlies I am sure that the problem won't reappear until next July.

As Jessica pointed out the big news on Wednesday was how well the team played not whether people missheard the announcer.

If you read my original post I said that I thought the team played well, I thought I heard mott was announced as the Goal keeper but seems like I was mistaken.but my main point was programe would be better left blank for friendlies rather than pre printed and incorrect against the 1>11 annouced,as they hold no relevence.

Feeling rather schizophrenic, myself. Quite taken by the idea of Grivan The Terrible S,as sported by my new avatar, but then the missus turned up this very fetching pic of the pair of us camping it up large as Mr & Mrs Attila The Hun:

PS What has she got between her legs? On second thoughts, don't answer that.
