Billericay 0 Thurrock 1

A most entertaining game imo played at a very high tempo and possesion wise i thought we dominated but did not "perhaps" have the run of the green tonight. Spoke to a couple of Thurrock fans who said we had a peach in BILLY, and cannot disagree with them. He looks so relaxed and dominant in both scenarios and plays with a smile on the face! He will turn out to be a fans favourite. A strong line up from Matt produced some entertaining football, and looks like a few trialists have had their chance and gone?? As what Matt said in programme notes - If you have a chance take it, if not bye bye. Not going to stand out any more individuals as it could run for a while this post, but suffice to say was an enjoyable game. Good luck to Thurrock for the season but why did their sub have a mad moment?

Right you lot, second anthem has been sussed by a clever Billy Dicky!! (you know who you are So, as you do not know the tune here are the lyrics....

Take my hand,

Take my Ricay too.

For I cant help,

Coming and watching you.

Blunts Wall Road,

Is where I will go,

For I cant help,

Coming and watching you.

Oh dear lost again lol! At least it was not against Canvey reserves this time!

Now as i have been saying over the last few months you will struggle this season to finish in the top six

Now a good start would be a major sponsorship deal, for an example look on the Chelmo official site....you still have a couple of weeks for a miracle i suppose...

I actually think the future looks bright for you boys on that performance.

Looking forward to tacking your progress over the coming season.

Cheers Gazza.

I have a feeling that last Saturday's line-up was probably near enough to what our starting line-up for the league games would be and even then we had our more experienced players missing.

Last night's performance wasn't so convincing but it was chopped and changed quite a bit from when Ricay visited and we held on for the win.

With the trialists we've got and the new signings we've made it will certainly give the Manager a headache!

I agree,a good game for a friendly and on the whole we played well.

Couple of thoughts-

I am a bit concerned that we have not found a strike partner for Nathan who looks really convincing, I think we need somebody a bit more experienced to protect Nathan a bit. He is doing so much hard work that there is a danger he will burn himself out, and not score many goals. If we cannot find somebody why not convert Warren Ryan, he is tall aggressive, good in the air and would have fun getting amongst those centre backs.

As for midfield I would prefer to see Lee Hodges in the middle as a playmaker. Every time he gets the ball he does something creative, but he gets a bit isolated out on the left.

Keith I can't take any credit for guessing the song as Emma sussed it, although everybody else seemed to think you'd already given a negative to the Elvis cover. Can't wait to hear it at the Cup Final tho!

Nice one Proudfoot!

Back to the football, I thought we looked alot sharper. I disagree about the striking problem with Elder, as, IMO, Flack is the man and will score goals. Good to see a keeper who comes for the ball confidently and efficeintly.

Yep, we looked sharper and played with more purpose than against Canvey last Saturday. I was surprised to see Kerrigan play so high up the wing at times...he really is becoming a usefull attacking full back (or should that now be wing back).

Lee Hodges was superb with his distribution altho his corners were a bit hit and miss at times and Warren Ryan was different gravy when he was on the pitch.

I though we would've scored if not for their well organised defence and their no. 2 who was brilliant.

Overall, a good team performance, shame we lost to the usual "last minute" sucker punch but lets get 'em out of the way during the pre season!!!

I hate loosing.

But on reflection, I think we played well yesterday. Nathan's heading was good, only being denied by some top class defending. Joe looked sharp.

Warren was quality, and didnt Heff's look good in the middle. Billy looks to be a great signing and yep. kerras was outstanding yet again.

I'm looking forward to seeing Swain play Saturday, (throat permitting)...but most of all...I'm looking forward to seeing us score a goal or two.
