Crawley going bust???????

They'll be able to start the season in the Conference, it seems, as they claim to have a squad of players (albeit a bit of a makeshift one in places), and they have at least one potential buyer.

Their CVA was not approved, and takeover bids are due in by Wednesday.

Crawley groups' meeting concludes

A meeting between Crawley Town's former owners the Majeed brothers, the club's supporters' club, and fan group The Devils Trust has broken up.

But it has not provided any definitive answers as to the club's future.

The supporters' club and the Trust then issued a statement saying they "hope the turmoil is coming to a close".

Also, a creditors' committee is set to decide whether to accept an offer for Crawley - who are in administration - from the Majeeds' SA Group.

But if the committee votes against accepting the SA Group bid - which is the only existing bid - the club could fold.

The Majeeds had earlier said that they would withdraw their bid at 1200 BST on Monday if issues raised by the Trust were not resolved.

However, that deadline has since passed, with no clear indication of what happens next.

We have both highlighted serious concerns about the running of the football club

Statement by Crawley Town's Supporters Club and The Devils Trust

The statement issued by the supporters' club and the Devils Trust added that they had "both highlighted serious concerns about the running of the football club. and hope our meeting in an open and frank way was a benchmark for the future".

It continued: "All three parties have stated their desire for this to continue.

"All three organisations remain wary of each other but are still working hard to not only safeguard the future of the club, not just this season, but in future years.

"We hope that all Reds fans will be able to cheer on the team against Rushden & Diamonds (on Saturday) whatever the outcome.

"As a gesture of goodwill, the Supporters Club have offered to give up one seat on the board to the Devils Trust. This has been accepted by Chas Majeed."

Crawley were put into administration in June, with debts of almost £1.4m, and subsequently put up for sale.

The only bid came from the Majeed brothers' SA Group.

According to BBC Southern Counties Radio, the Inland Revenue is likely to be opposed to any involvement from the Majeeds, who led the club into administration.

However, the Devils Trust sent an open letter to the administrator saying the creditors would consider voting 'yes' if a number of conditions are met.

Those conditions would include having a fans' representative involved in the day-to-day running of the club.

If the vote goes against the Majeed brothers, former diamond dealer John Goodwin is reportedly ready to revive his interest in taking control of the club - and could try to revive them in a lower division.

Goodwin decided not to bid against the Majeed brothers.

He told the Argus newspaper: "The club has got into an absolute diabolical state and common sense tells me it would be crazy to try to run it the way it is at the moment.

"The sale is being done very quickly because of the precarious position of the club.

"I'm happy to take charge and I have no doubt I would do a good job but I'm not going to pay hundreds of thousands for nothing."

Crawley could fold after no vote

A creditors' committee has voted against accepting a bid for Crawley Town, meaning the club is set to fold.

Crawley was put up for sale in June after going into administration with debts of almost £1.4m.

The only bid came from previous owners the Majeed brothers and two of the three voters were against it.

BBC Southern Counties reports that the club will be wound up and drop out of the Conference, unless a new bid is received in the next 24 hours.

A statement by the club's supporters' group and fan group the Devils Trust issued after a meeting with Majeeds was cautious but hopeful in tone.

"All three organisations remain wary of each other but are still working hard to not only safeguard the future of the club, not just this season, but in future years," it read.

"We hope that all Reds fans will be able to cheer on the team against Rushden & Diamonds (on Saturday) whatever the outcome."

However, Tuesday's vote would appear to signal the end of the Majeeds' association with the club.
