What players do we need ?

Squad seems to be shaping up pretty well,and bolstered by a reasonable set of younger 'supporting players'.

 

I think all agree there is need for a goalkeeper and central defender.

 

Hopefully RT will get Nicholls and Sappleton on board(both of whom incidentally were picked for an isthmian representative team 12 months ago ,so must be rated!!)

 

We remain short up front,and its a bit worrying to see Hockton and Pinnock having to play 90 mins in the friendlies.Hopefully not burnt out before season starts.

Despite good performances from the younger players/reserves,we have not seen a young reserve striker out there yet

 

Need another sriker .I reckon someone in the mould of Adolph Amoako-real pace and consistent goalscoring touch.

 

With the hard pitches at start of season,the passing abiity of our 'new midfield',a striker with pace to come on afer say 60 minutes would be devastating imo.

 

Its worth investing in an extra player or two; at start of season, as 25% of games are played by mid October;and your season is 'shaped' by then.

With Hasim,BB and probably Yiga on their way; hopefully there may be a few pennies in the kitty to achieve that.

 

Nicholls, Sappleton and another striker, and i think i would raise my expectations for season from top 9 to top 5

In todays Times it says that Brayley has been given permission to train with another club and Yiga is on trial at another club with another one interested. Hopefully this will then realease funds for Nicholls to be signed which Trotty wants. As for Sappleton it seems that he may have a couple of options open to him.

 

Hasim Deen has as expected got himself an agent and is not answering his phone. Trotty does not seem impressed.

 

As for other players MM it seems that the budget will rule.

Surfing around a few forums, it does seem that Nicholls is very highly rated indeed.

 

Could be worth an extra 7-8 points to us over a season it seems so hope RT gets his man.

 

Could make the difference between promotion or not.

I think one poster somewehere said something like 'margate will be unstoppable if they get Nicholls' !!

 

He certainly made a couple of blinding saves on saturday, that turned the game in our favour when otherwise we could just as easily been 3-0 down
