Well fair comment, which is what the Forum is all about, but I still prefer fixtures on a monthly basis. Due to the vast number of cup ties Club's are having to play at the moment it will be virtually impossible for Phil Rolt to arrange two months fixtures in one hit let alone a whole season, why don't you and the likes of Spidermanor just accept it as one of those things and leave the man alone. As for the early rounds of Divisional Cups being played before Christmas what's wrong with that, it allows games to be played rather than postponed due to the elements after November.

But surely it wwuld be better to get league games in before xmas when the pitches are generally better, then if there is space in the calendar after Xmas, division cups could be organised maybe on an invitational basis. That is if clubs were still in the Vase or had a lot of fixtures left they wouldn't need to go in but the competion would only go ahead with a minimaum of eight tams in it. I can think of two previous seasons where the competiton was abandoned after being started in October because the winter was so wet....surely that is a worse situation.

 

If other leagues can arrange league fixtures for the season why can't the SSML?

Rhodes - add me to the list of malcontents! The County Cup excuse is rubbish - same applies to other leagues (county cup takes precedence) but there are standardised dates for these , and other leagues live with it. When they come to chop the number of Step 5 leagues they'll be looking for victims ......

Horace - As I said we are all entitled to our own opinion on here which is the beauty of the Forum however I'm surprised I'm the only one who seems to be in favour of monthly fixtures, I honestly don't know why are you making such a song and dance over it. The SSML is very highly regarded in the corridors of power at the FA and in general football circles, you are making it sound as if we are a laughing stock just because we are given monthly fixtures which certainly isn't the case.

Lato - I have that on good authority and in writing somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out. Stop trying to bite the hand that feeds you all the time and be a bit more supportive to the people such as Phil Rolt who are doing an incredible job for our benefit not theirs.

That's exactly the point, Rhodes. Everyone else wants a full season's fixtures. The SSML Committee are voted in by the Clubs and should be acting on behalf of those Clubs. If a reasonable majority of Club's want a full season's fixtures, which is clearly the case, then the SSML Committee is duty bound to provide them. By not doing so, they are failing the Club's they are there to serve.

Potters Bar Town - Fair do's but why is it such a big deal about receiving a full season's fixtures at the start of the season, what is the point of knowing in August who you are playing in April.

Thanks for that Spidermanor, I wondered how long it would take you to come out of the woodwork to put your twopennyswoth in on this fixtures topic. I really feel that you and the likes of Potters Bar Town are being terribly unfair on Phil Rolt and, as I said, biting the hand that feeds you.

Potters Bar Town - Well perhaps not you so much now you are no longer in the SSML but certainly Spidermanor, Lato and a number of others who go on and on about a full seasons fixtures. Actually come to think of it why do you use this Forum so much, isn't there one for the Ryman League Division 1 North, in theory it is only meant for SSML Club's to banter with each other.
