Non- League Paper Comment

I have just read the Non League and I am fuming,we are reported as the poorest club in the league, according to the so called reporter who attended the Nuneaton game.No mention of Jimmys cracking corner or how Wilks blocked Quayle out of the game etc.

I have E.Mailed the Non League and expressed my opinion as to their so called reporter, or was it a Nuneaton Supporter.

I thought our boys played with heart and came away with three well deserved points.

I would suggest if you have the non league that you also mail them as bias reports like the one they published can only do damage to the club if not challenged by us. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" />

All the reports are supplied from the home club or it's local paper. When we are at home Chas Webster does the reports, although he does make the mistake of actually watching the whole match something that Mr Richie apparently didn't bother to do.

Its usually the home team person who does the match report - Chas does the report for our home games. Thats no excuse for a biaised report, but looking at the Nuneaton message board there are a few of their supporters who felt we werent very good, and it was really only the goal that separated the teams.

The truth, although I wasnt there, is probably somewhere in the middle.

To the Non-league Paper = <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/upyours.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/upyours.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/upyours.gif" alt="" />

BBC match report also states that we held on for a deserved win. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />

<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/director.gif" alt="" /> If we are the poorest side in the conference,

where does that put Nuneaton? <img src="/forums/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

4-1 at home and 0-1 away gives the impression

that there are worse teams than us in the conference. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/biggrinangelA.gif" alt="" />

There are. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smilie_switch.gif" alt="" />

I've just read the report (on the website)and it seem's pretty fair to me.It finishes with the remark"battling visitors hold on for a deserved win".Can't be fairer than that.

Which website is that Roy, only the official one seems to be in the middle of a refit!

I am a normal footie fan and understand one eyed bias to the home team, but the report in today NLP is taking the p*ss.

after a fairly equal first half , we were the only team playing in the second half.

Mark Bentley was easily the MOM , and Nuneaton are by far and away the worst team that we have played this season.

We thrashed them at home and with better finishing yesterday , could and should have done the same again.

If I was their reporter I would feel very uncomfortable looking over my shoulder , as they are relegation candidates ..

Up the reds ..

PS. Nice Pork and Stuffing though !!!!!

It highlights (NLP) that the star man in the match was Richard Lavery of Nuneaton who only scored 6 out of 10 while Bentley somehow is not man of the match with 8 out of 10 !! Biased or what ?!!!!! Still despite not being man of the match Mark makes it into the team of the week. For 1.20 GBP its looking a little overpriced for what u get. Akpo scored again yesterday though !!!

And he gave his own keeper 7/10, so how the hell does that make Lavery man of the match? They can't even count, let alone write in unbiased English... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/bounceblue.gif" alt="" />

Dont think you lot are on your own with the view of Dave Richie match reports. You should see some of the things he has said and written in the past. Never gets the facts correct. Every appeal Boro have for a penalty is described as "a blatent penalty". Every penalty Boro conceeded has been "harsh". My favorite (of many) was last season. "Harris never managed one shot on goal". Under this was a picture with caption "Harris brings out another save by the keeper".

I could give 100's of other examples. Suffice to say ignore it.

As for the game. Gravesend were poor. Nuneaton were worse. The goal was class and G&N deserved to win. If you take things on individual games Nuneaton should be top having beaten Chester & Dagenham away, and a penalty miss from also beating Doncaster away. Over a season the league table pretty much shows the truth.

Good luck for rest of season. Your team will be battling it out with Nuneaton (and others) for the remaining relegation place (Leigh & Kettering & AN Other down IMO).

I dont mind clubs and reports having home poetic licenses. I beleive we all know how well Gravesend played this week, remember we had 2 strikers at centre back and a centre back at right back. We had a very make shift defence which coped admirably with Nuneaton, who incedently werent that bad.

It shows we played well that the opposition and co leave early, boo and look thoroughly distraught - Well done Reds - had a supoerb day up in nuneaton and was proud to see all the players applaud us supporters - cheers.

I thought Wilkins was a different class today and if we really could do anything to keep him it would be worth it. he has everything we would need to buy in to the club and he is already here, please stay Wilks!!!! any chance of a keep wilks at the fleet campaign???

How come Wilko's reason to leave is that he wants to play as a striker? Although we signed him as a striker, he played at centre-back for years and only switched back to the forward line last season.

At this level, you need at least three strikers in your squad and I think Wilko would get a reasonable run of games alongside Che, Abbo or Budge. In my opinion, Abbot's still got to prove his staying power at this level, so Craig might be a bit premature in leaving.

The way wilks performed on Saturday was exceptional. He won every header that came his way and has sooo much pace at the back. It’s a shame if he really does want to leave, but I almost think he is a better defnder than striker sometimes, although I still think he is better than some up front, a class utility act at this level and i would be very dissapointed to see him go.

PLEASE STAY WILKS.

That's true at the moment, but what happens when Liam gets fit again, at best Craig will then be fourth choice striker.

I hope he stays, but if he is determined to play up front, he chances of doing it here will be slim.

Fair comment from the Nuneaton post, it was a battling performance, and after the Saturday's before match, was 100% better, even with the changes made due to players not be available because of bookings etc.

It's a shame when someone abuse's the position they have when reporting in the paper, Chas I think is very fair in his reporting, if we play well he says so if we don't he also says so, but is always fair with his opinion of the opposition.

To say how poor we were only makes him look stupid, as has already been said if we were poor and took 6 points from them, No more need be said.

Mark Bentley was also easily MOM, one must ask the question why this chap is reporting at all, he clearly has no idea what he is talking about.

The Nuneaton fans were very friendly, good bar, excellent food and cup of tea.

Hope to see you next season with us both in the Conference.
