Weekly Donations To The Playing Budget

This idea is all very well but think of the complications.. By agreeing to pay does that mean i would be obliged to pay every week, what if my financial situation were to change and i could no longer afford the contribution? If the manager signed a player based on this contribution from fans and then it disappeared what then??? The club would be in more financial trouble. Fans already pay to watch, eat and drink, buy programmes etc etc... Fans fundraising for the team/club is all very well but a continual payment towards wages is very dodgy grounds for a club like Slough.

Sorry!

You have the advantage on me because I don't know you but I do pity your inability to write your name.

The only pity martin is you giving £10 a week to a club that is a shambles and the reason we stay anon is because it seems to be a crime to criticize anything to do with our club. Your not the only loyal fan you know.

Fully aware of that, shall we call you Bob, I criticise the club openly see my posts on any number of threads (try the Jarvis one for starters) and the vast majority of fans and players and management "know" who I am. We are all entitled to our opinion and you have yours - but does your view prevent you from attending games and given £8 a week to that "shambles"? If we all took that view the club would soon die a death. Thanlfully we do have a loyal fan base.

A loyal fan base does just that - pays the money to watch and support their team and buys the extras associated with match days too... Dont think a 'loyal' fan should be expected to put their hands in their pockets anymore than that. As for putting your name down, what difference does that make?? And how does it affect an argument??? Surely those interested on the topic can post their views and have the right to remain anonymous.

Surely it is for each loyal fan to decide how and to what level to support their club? Those that then express their support to contributing towards the playing budget should not be criticised for doing so by those wishing to hide behind a cloak of anononimity.

Nibbler thinks we are daft and has said so - I respect his opinion but disagree with it and will probably mention this over a pint with him in the future. I find it hard to respect people who for some reason cannot simply put a name or a handle to their comments. If you want an alias that is fine but at least I would know I am having a conversation with the same person. How can I otherwise differentiate between you and the muppet who said "Well said"

Infortunately thats out of my control, you dont know me anyway so dont think we will be having a pint anytime soon.. Nevertheless i have no problem with individuals giving extra money to the club as a form of 'donation' this happens country wide. But this thread was specfic about a weekly contribution to 'team wages' which makes it a concern for all 'loyal' fans; as i mentioned earlier in this thread - what if a player is signed and employed based on this contribution (although not highly likely) and then the contribution, for a host of reasons, is reduced through the season.... what then?? the club is under an extra financial pressure.

There have been comments about attracting a better quality of player but sometimes you have to accept that, especially in non-league football, that is not going to happen.... just yet anyway. A good solid club is built up slowly and agreed our own ground would help with this! Slough Town has as much potential, probably more, than most clubs around us due to the potential fan base - the loyal fans who still continue to watch could be joined by more if the club moves forward... Even when relegated from the conference Slough have always been associated with good support - sometimes only second to aldershot in numbers as they were clinbing the league.

I think what im trying to say is that a pull in the same direction is needed not a few fans digging deeper in their pockets.

Alan - Bring back the good days.

he was saying he'd have a pint with me as I'm the only one dumb enough to call himself the almighty Nibbler. And until i get some concrete proof that this money would actually be going to get in players and not underwriting Martyn Deaner's Great Tax Write-Off, and have some actual communication from the club via the usual outlets that proves they actually give a crap about the fans then I shall not contribute, simple as that.

Well said Anon. I am another muppet with no name but a fan all the same. The club needs direction and that must come from those running it. No sight of a ground yet or are we told nothing just in case the wrong people are reading these posts. Also from the programme last season fans put their hands in their pockets for kit for the players but none of the playing squad had any track suits.

Its up the individual of how they want to help... supporting a team runs deeper than just turning up paying your money and speaking your mind...

all of those efforts are of course welcomed....and without this we would be dead...but as supporters you can all help contribute to more..without much effort.... so if those want to help in the extra way then so be it...

up the rebels....

see you at Windsor on Wednesday at 6pm...

who's going to paint our fixture board and out HQ ??
