A terrific performance today from the Urchins to overcome fellow promotion hopefuls Slough Town and gain a vital 3 points.

 

We took the lead after 12 minutes when Adam Locke struck home with a screamer of a shot from 18 yards from a Danny Benstock corner. Slough responded well and equalised in the 30th minute when a free kick was passed into the 'D' curled into the area and side-footed home by Nick Gyoury. Just before half time though we took the lead again. Danny Benstock chipped a free kick to the edge of the penalty area where Steve Jones chested the ball down and sent an unstoppable left foot volley into the far corner.

 

Slough made a strong start to the second half and were fortunate to be awarded a hotly disputed penalty which was converted by Sammy Winston for the second equaliser. This only spurred us on and after several close calls we scored the winner with 10 minutes to go. Adam Locke made a surging run from the half way line and passed in to the area for Bates who centred the ball for Barrie Fox. Fox's shot was blocked but it fell perfectly for Craig Cripps who popped the ball into the empty net from inside the 6 yard area.

 

A great performance against a strong side and we fully deserved the three points.

I thought you guys were always in control today. Every time we drew level you stepped up a gear and dominated the attacking side of the game with Steve Jones a continual threat.

Brilliant game yesterday and full marks to Mick and his assistants for good tactics. The scoreline flattered Slough and in truth the game could easily have been four or five nil...what about the ref...what about the penalty...I saw the video and the player blatantly dived...the ref was a joke in the second half..anyway...maxhino liked him....three points and onwards to Wembly...sounds good dunnit!..... Top result, top performance, to be honest it should have been a much more comfortable scoreline. Jonah a handful, ran their defence ragged second half. We have been treated to two cracking games this week, Southend on Tuesday and then yesterday's match as well. We done Mick & the boys, all the best for Saturday!

I'm looking forward to the game at Slough. Should be the biggest crowd of the season against a proper club. Whoever wins will have a good chance of going up next season.

The key is to not drop points against the weaker clubs.

We are looking forward to Harlow at home on Saturday as well.

It's all quite exciting.

If we don't go up it will still be a praiseworthy effort on our part. Much the same with Northwood with home produced players and a small budget.

Still dubious with the talent you have at your disposal that you play such a defensive style. You should be taking opposition teams to the cleaners.

Good to see Paul Wood between the sticks. He deserves it.

Wealdstone's budget is about £1200 pw.

The "running off with the dosh was 12 years ago". It's new era now.

Supporters have run the club for all that time since. No hangers on or money men. All money raised by the fans and sponsorship and we are always in the black. Just. Saying that there will be a loan involved in conjunction with Stadia Management to build our new stadium.

 

Good luck with your new developed stadium. I look forward to visiting it one day. Who knows maybe next season. :-)
