The problem with Jefferson is that he starts well at a new club, but then his performance and application tails off very quickly.
This is perhaps why he is becoming a "journeyman" that nobody wants to keep.
Can't see that he poses much competition to the forwards that we already have on our books, so perhaps money would be better spent on a quality right back and another midfielder.
As for my thoughts on MacCarthy, I still stand by my opinion that his lack of pace will cost us more dearly than his positional skill will save us.
Craig Wilkins is no spring chicken, yet, according to reports, he outpaced Mac the whole first half.

Er, Isn't that what I said about Louis ?? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

And I know I'm repeating myself here, but I wouldn't worry too much about McCarthy in pre-season games. His experience WILL be a major factor in our defence if he plays alongside Ross who has a habit of being a bit rash in his decision making if he doesn't have someone holding him back. (Thats not a criticism of him, just an observation!)

We need another Striker!

If we had the best midfield in the Country it would be wasted without someone to put the ball in the net and we just cannot rely on Charlie to be fit for a whole season. Give L.D credit for persevering with Louis. I would love to be wrong about him as there's no doubt he has ability. Its his overall commitment that has the big question mark hanging over him.

As a squad striker, Louis mightn't be a bad option to come off the bench (if his attitude could stand it), though whether we'd consider paying for him in a 'reserve' capacity I don't know. But I'd prefer LD to look elsewhere for Charlie's regular starting partner.

On the other hand he may well realise that this is probably his last chance to play at this level, (unless he goes to Crawley) and we may well get ourselves a good strike partner for Charlie.

Oddly enough this may explain his performances in the matches so far, trying to hard to impress.
