Hertfordshire Police are insisting on providing a presence at Clarence Park for the forthcoming game against Aldershot Town on December 21st.

This follows on from comments made on the Aldershot website, apparently from so called St Albans City supporters and picked up by police intelligence.

It is understood that " The Club " is far from happy with this, bearing in mind that

Stockport levied £ 1700 in charges for the police presence at that game. John Gibson is quoted as stating " this is getting ridiculous, we have this element within the Club who really do not realise the consequences of their actions. Once again, we will have a large sum to pay for the police presence and for what ? The idiots making their threats together with this absurd bravado, is in simple terms, yet another players wages gone for half a season and all this bearing in mind that they would run a mile if my Grandmother challenged them. I would ask therefore that the culprits think about what they are doing, as they are really doing the Club a major disservice"

Any truth in this story?

If someone has been making 'comments' isn't it about time they grew up!

Without condoning the stupid comments someone posted on the Shots website (and no, I haven't seen them but I can guess the content) I would ask...

a) isn't Police Intelligence one of those oxy-moron thingys?

B) why did Stockport think a police prescence was necessary bearing in mind there was no pre-match trouble of any sort?

c) It isn't going to cost anything like £1700 to have a couple of Bobbys posted around the Park, in fact I think most people would welcome it as there are unruly elements on both sides.

d) for God's sake let's calm down a bit and enjoy what should be an exciting game of football.

In response...

a). One would have thought that there would be police presence anyway. There has been police presence at games before down t'Park. When was the last time that cost £1,200?

B). £1,200? They can't be serious.

c). Apparently, this / these message/s was/were traced to a 12-yr-old kid. Apparently. That's the rumour I've heard. If so, that's not exactly a threat to be taken too seriously, is it?

d). The 12-yr-old child thing is just a rumour I've heard. Once again, the jumping-to-conclusions folk may well jump to conclusions and blame EFM. I hope to God they don't. Such sillyness.

e). How do you spell sillyness? Does it have just the one 'i' ??

That would be funny if it weren't for the fact that:

a). I didn't make up my own message board

B). I never have and I probably never will make up my own message board

c). MAD isn't funny anyway.

d). Reading the initial message, or the actual bit of news on the website, it clearly states

Did Canvey not have to have Police present last year for the second game because people let this club down with their behaviour in the first game. There were then stupid comments on message boards that the Police football supporters unit picked up on and have to act on. That episode will have cost Canvey money for no reason other than City followers stupidity.

Assuming whoever made the comments on the ATFC board can be traced they should be banned from the ground permenantly.

There are a collection of people who constantly show themselves and, more importantly, SACFC up. I have now seen one of them thrown out of grounds three times but without any apparent punishment from the club itself.

Until bans are implemented this nonsence will carry on, the club will have to pay out further costs while losing fans (and so income) who are fed up of these self obsessed fools who do nothing to show the club in a good light or attract new fans.

I think John Gibson is one of the most aggressive person at the club, whats all this "If they saw my grandmother they would run a mile" buisness, everything he says has some bizarre threat/putdown attached to it - remember "now Migeal De Souza thats someone I wouldn't like to see on a dark night down a alley" - What the [censored].

Sort it out, if the comments have been traced to a 12yr old then surely the police have spoken to the kid concerned and realsied there is no danger, If I log on this board as Osama Bib Laden and say flight 234 from Luton tomorrow do the FBI take me seriously. I think the police presence would of been there anyway, lets face it Aldershot are a bunch of thugs and any city game witha potential crowd of 2000 normally has a presence anyway, isn't this just the club overreacting again and another pop at EFM who I'm sure Gibbo thought was behind this.

As for Stockport well I've made my feeling clear about the so-called police bill on here already - firstly Stockport County are the biggest con-men and thieves I've ever seen, the attendance right down to the stewards and police bill, they have done city over hand and fist. The police were already at the game as it was a major (ish) sporting event and police are always present there - the police were not called out just for us, and if they were they are an emergancy service and it's their job, they don't bill you afterwards.

To me, it seems the club is accusing EFM of this. I was appoached on Saturday, and the Hooded Man was spoken to on Tuesday night. However, the police have discovered that it was a 12-year-old kid, so therefore not a member of EFM. Possibly one of the kids-for-a-quid who shout racist abuse?

Anyway, will the club be apologing to EFM for the wrongful accusation? I suspect not. Like the way they were going to investigate the Stockport stewards incident.

According to the Hooded Man, we were getting some real stick over this on Tuesday night. I would imagine the officials at the club have a lot of egg over their faces now.

I had a certain female fan tell me that EFM have cost the club a lot of money because of these messages. It seems everyone has been blaming us and spreading lies about us.

Will they be big enough to apologise? Fat chance.
