GRS67
I know the fixtures for the first month are not out yet, but any idea on the first date for the new season?. Aug 19th I see is down for FA cup Extra Prelim games. Edgware are not in the FA cup, we were 'banned' and this is the second season with no FA cup games for Edgware. It dates back to fines not being paid to the FA and so they kicked us out of the FA cup. Last season we were not in either the FA cup or the Vase, this season we are back in the vase though. Manorborn100
As far as I am aware the season starts on 19th Aug Gavin, but as you say this is also an FA Cup date so it wont be a full programme.
Rhodes
Gavin - I hadn't heard about this and it seems a little tough on Edgware, a one season ban in the FA Cup maybe but two is over the top, at least you're in the Vase and I see you have a nice easy draw at home to Hertford Town, you should get a good crowd. Your first league game will probably be on Tuesday 22 August, will you be attending all the games home and away.
Lato
Speaking from experience, the league will probably arrange fixtures between those clubs not involved in the FA Cup on Saturday 19th August. They will then arrange a full league programme for the following midweek but may or may not have the foresight to arrange potential fixtures such that teams not playing in the F.A Cup play each other to ensure a game. The SSML have a funny regard for the F.A Cup for instance three years ago we played Ely in the Preliminary Round and drew. The First Qualifying Round had already been drawn for the following Saturday and the winners would host Soham. The league in their wisdom though had already organised a league fixture for us on that Saturday against Royston who had also been in Fa Cup action but lost. We won the replay and had to play Soham but also had to tell Royston we wouldn't play them in the league game. When we asked the league about it the alleged response was that they expected both us and Royston to lose in the F.A Cup so worried about fixture congestion (in August!) organised a league game between us! Think we P****d them off the following year when we drew the first three rounds of the F.A Cup and won two of the replays plus drew and lost in the F.A Vase so that by end of September we had only played one league game which we won. We were third bottom of the table but with a 100% record and six games in hand on some teams.
GRS67
Hi Rhodes, yes Edgware were banned from ALL FA comps last season. It's down to the previous board/chairman who had big ideas to take Edgware to the the Conference, (not sure if that's the Football conference LOL) but instead gave the ground away to a development company ( by letting the lease expire) who have tried to knock the ground down and build homes on the land. They also failed to pay their fines for bookings etc to the FA, thus the ban from FA comps. As it stands we have just been given an extra five years on the lease, what happens after that I am unsure of. As I said I started an online petition to save the ground and nearly 2000 have signed it. Hertford in the Vase is a tough draw for both clubs, could have been easier and better really. Last season I 'came back' to Edgware and watching non league, and I saw pretty much all the home games and away games in double figures. This season I am not too sure, as I may have to work on Saturday's again, at least for a while, I work in a Barbershop in Hendon, anything for the weekend sir? lol. That said if I do havr to work Saturday's I will be at all the midweek home gamess and will try to make a number of the away games. I am sure we are going to have a lot more midweek games this season, as you said, our first game of the season may be midweek.
Rhodes
Gavin - Bummer but sounds like you had a lucky escape and you seem to be getting back on your feet after almost being put out of business, there are too many people out there who are only after lining their pockets and don't have any interest in football. Interesting that you work in a barbers shop, I'll drop by for a short back and sides during the course of the season to smarten myself up possibly before taking Paula out on a date, what do you charge. Eagle
With 18 of the 21 teams in the top division involved in the Extra Preliminary round of the FA cup it is not going to be a long fixture list on the 19th August. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Rhodes
As I said there will no doubt be a full programme of games during the following week commencing 21 August, not sure about Cup replays though and whether they will be that week or the week after. The three teams not involved in the FA Cup on the Saturday will probably be twiddling their thumbs unless the league pairs two of them together to play, this obviously includes Edgware but not sure who the other two are off the top of my head, Colney Heath are possibly another. KTFCSC
The other non FA Cup (or Vase) particpant is the mighty K(L)TFC

Rhodes
Tut, tut, so Edgware, Colney Heath and Kingsbury will all be sitting out the FA Cup and will be all dressed up with no where to go on 19 August, I'm sure the League fixtures Secretary will fix up a game for two of those three, it would make sense. Wonder which SSML Club will go the furthest in the FA Cup this season, normally everyone is out by the 2nd Qualifying Round stage as most of us have to negotiate two Preliminary Rounds and the First Qualifying Round usually against superior teams. Once in a blue moon one of us slips through to the 3rd Qualifying Round, St Margaretsbury did the season before last and I think Welwyn Garden City. KTFCSC
Quote: Have K(L)TFC not been paying their fines either? Apparently it was decided by the previous management not to enter. It suggests that they didnt think there would be a KTFC this season, with or without an (L)
Rhodes
KTFCSC - What will you be charging on the gate this season, a few people might be interested in coming to your game with Broxbourne Borough on Wednesday 23 August as it's the only SSML Premier Division game that night, you should get a decent crowd, well a few more than you averaged last season anyway. GRS67
I would imagine it will be a fiver Rhodes. I may poop down to that game as well.
Rhodes
Gavin - Thanks but don't forget we are at home that night (23 August) to Brache Sparta so it would be nice if you could make it down, we'll roll out the red carpet for you and I'll put a complimentary on the gate. It should also be an interesting game as Brache are favourites to win SSML Division 1, they will no doubt be like rabbitts caught in the headlights when they arrive at Hendon hence our Man Utd of Division 1 tag and I think we can surprise them. KTFCSC
Quote: What will you be charging on the gate this season Haven't a clue I'm afraind but as Gavin suggests it will probably be £5. Would be shocked if it's any more than £6 Quote: you should get a decent crowd, well a few more than you averaged last season anyway. Lets face it that shouldn't be too hard. What are Broxbourne like these days? Last time we played I think was in the Vase two seasons ago. Since then we have got worse, then better, then worse before finishing half decently last season. How we'll do this season is a total mystery
Rhodes
I'm sure BroxBoroBlue will tell you that they're the next Chelsea and guaranteed to win the league although Hertford, Edgware, Aylesbury and Harefield will have something to say about that. They will bring quite a few fans on 23 August as it's their first league game of the campaign and could possibly double or even treble your average crowd from last season. Yes you're a bit of an unknown quantity this season, has any money been made available following the infamous merger or is that a silly question.
