Ramsgate v Chatham(where have all the supporters gone)

Just telephoned a mate to ask about the affair at Southwood Yesterday. He said he could not believe the crowd. He roughly counted 60 in the 1st half(inc 11 Gaaaate fans), after 1/2 time when he assumed they didn't have to pay this figure rose to roughly 150.

3 players to show anything were a new signing up front(who scored, then taken off),said he looked sharp. Ian Pullman and Mark Munday.

Also said Chatham played the better football by far.

If you dare admit you were there lets have a report please.

For Chatham, playing a team like the Rams is a big occaison so they put a strong side out. Ramsgate played 4-4-2, something i have never seen Jim do, and also played alot of trialists. I disagree about them playing the better football, and if the Chatham keeper did not play aswell as he did we would have won by 6.

I dared to venture. Chatham definately played the better football.Had no finishing touches though. Twyman really dodgy if put under pressure in Ramsgate goal.A definate weak link there I think. The centre forward(from Letherhead I think) only scored the goal though took it well.Didnt do much apart from that though..Ramsgate had the better chances & its true Chathams keeper made a string of saves otherwise it could have been 4 or 5.

The old floodlights(spotlights) are still up would you believe.Well "flood" & "light" dont go together here! They are still the "spotlights" or so they are called.Might I suggest everyone who visits there takes along a candle each. It might do the trick!

I suppose by keeping those grade 2 listed floodlights(they must be)or near on antiques anyway, they will give the team an added advantage no doubt. No wonder they wont replace them.No other [****!!****] can see the effing ball at night.

What a drab place to visit. Its all scruffy & needs a good tidying up.A bit of superficial decorating wouldnt come amiss either.

As for the game it was just a run out and there was nothing of note to come away with. Tall players still for the Rams but much the same style of play as last season.I do however love the way they all pile forward when on the attack.Plenty of support from the midfield & defence.. That is the only plus point I can give from yesterday.

A typical first friendly of the season game. Rather drab.On my reckoning the attendance wasnt much more than 80(no matter what time of the day it was).

Are the Rams still a 'team of giants'.

In fairness-credit to JW for that, as at this level,a decent big one will usually beat a good liitle one

You should make that your signature Michael. Add a "Shambles" to it & you have the perfect identification tag! l.o.l.

Forgot to mention the Ramsgate long throw ins. Caused problems all game for the opposition. This was one of their strengths in their artillery last season. Without knowing I would imagine these throw-ins would have been a major source of point making last year.We will have to deal with them if they come our way. They have 2 or 3 that can chuck a long throw into the penalty box. Trotty,be aware!
