Alfie Noakes
you always get people claiming to be players despite the fact they have no kit bags or the various people who turn up at the gate with no money ! The worst was a young lady who claimed to be the physio.I let her in but i when i came off the gate she was trying to hide from me in the stand.I made sure i got the fiver off her! Manorborn100
Players relatives who think they should be allowed in free is always a good one, and the guy who turns up with a £50 note who hasn't got anything smaller. Oh, and "someones left a ticket on the gate for me" when it's obvious noone has is quite popular for cup games. You also get these guys in shirt & ties flashing cards at you and charging through only stopping to insist on a free programme claiming to be from the league or county or something! From what Rhodes is saying is it you that's head of the PBT lynching mob? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Rhodes
Quote: Lato said: Why am I not surprised by this. Lato - What is this comment all about, I am not a big fan of team sheets on the back pages of programmes, to start with most of the covers at our level are pre-printed so the teams wouldn't be on the back page in any case. By making a team sheet easily accessible in a programme you are making life too easy for 'the punter' and wiping their noses for them, by going through the programme with a fine tooth comb looking for the team sheet it might make them appreciate the work that goes into producing it for their benefit. HTFCew
As I often have to fill in the team sheet, with limited time to do so, I really appreciate those editors who make the teams easy to find - back page or centre pages.
Lato
I always foiund that supporters appreciated it if the programme was standardized which I tried to do when I did the RMFC one i.e. line ups on first page, league table on last page. I'd hate to play spot the team lists at KTFC though and no I wouldn't look at the adverts or the rest of the programme material in my quest for them either. I reiterate that making a team sheet easily accessible within a programme is like wiping someone's nose for them or spoon feeding them.

All responses on here have been contrary to your view. I am another strange person who likes to know where the team line-ups are. We also pre-print all of our covers, but these days it's no problem to overprint match details on the front and back. Why don't you do some customer research among the people who buy your product - shouldn't take long!
Lato
Rhodes, we had a straw poll of supporters last night at the Borough v Manor game and there was a 100% opinion that in a programme they prefer the line ups to be immediately accessible e.g back cover, or first page and the same place every week so they can turn to it. It is after all the information most people look for at the start of the game. The people were asked were just football supporters who had never heard of you or your stupid ideas and we didn't lead them in any weay just asked them a straight question. Now will you listen to the evidence of the masses or just ignore them...Idi Amin style?

Rhodes
Lato - Where are you today by the way, you're over two hours late on here again, well two hours and twenty minutes to be precise. You hit the nail on the head in your post by saying it is information that people look for at the start of a game, exactly so why make life easy and wipe their noses for them. HTFCew
Why not? It's important information that they need at the start of the game - they can read the rest at half time.
Rhodes
Well each to their own, I may be in a minority of one on this but I still maintain you are making people's lives far too easy for them by making the team page easily accessible. Our Chairman for example has a four page pull out on the innovative telescopic corner poles that his company have painstakingly pioneered and brought to this country following their manufacter in China, although they are currently flying off the shelves to almost every Club in the Country he still wants the advert to be seen and punters have no option whilst searching high and low for the team page. AWK
Surely the idea of a programme though is to be as helpful as possible, I always find that I can get frustrated when I can't find what I'm looking for in a programme and if thats the case then adverts will just become annoying. Anyway I would imagine that if you have a four page pull out then it will get easily noticed and if its not intrusive on the programme then I think the advert, and programme as a whole will be all the better for it. Not making people's lives easier for them = not realistically challenging Hoddesdon for the SSML Programme of the Year title. But it's your choice, Rhodes. Rhodes
Well we will see how close we come to Hoddesdon when the awards are announced, I'm not saying we will win the Division 1 award but at least Jane will have had a run for her money and will have grey hair by that time. Secretly I think the Programme Monthly hierarchy are frustrated at the monopoly Hoddesdon hold over the SSML and may want to teach them a lesson. HTFCew
This is only Programme Monthly's second season for doing the programme awards, so they can't be getting fed up as yet. Do the SSML do their own awards? If so, where can I find last year's results?
