Manorborn100
Here's my thoughts on clubs and their potential fortunes for the coming season. Sorry in advance if I upset you, but with the info I have this is what I think. Aylesbury United Reserves - sorry I mean Aylesbury Vale - Ground will be good due to work done by AUFC to bring up to Southern league standards. Good pitch from memory. Good 2005/06 should do well again this season with their new found resources. Big Les Town - moving to new ground supposedly. Good, old ground the pits. Should avoid relegation (chairman puts cash in when bottom 3 position theatens). Biggleswade United - Non descript really. Basic ground, nice people, probably mid table / top half. Broxbourne - More cash than sense. Again nice people. Will be disapointed again as cash spent will not equate to league position. Chalfont - Not been there for a while. Crap ground from recollection. Will strugggle. Colney Heath - Know nothing about them. Promoted teams tend to do ok in first season in the SSML Premier. Edgware - Hi Gavin - Top six? Harefield - Tidy ground, good team expect them in the top three. Haringey Borough - Should have been relegated last season (don't care as we usually beat them) Not a pleasant place to visit (esp midweek) but the people are friendly (despite losing Cliff). Relegation candidates. Hertford Town - Well hidden ground which has seen better days. Season to consolidate me thinks. Probably going to be best supported team in league. Holmer Green - Village team very basic. Not a bad season in 05/06. Expect them to struggle (like usual) this season. Kingsbury etc etc FC - Again been a while since I've been there. I recall it was crap. In old guise of Kingsbury they would have definately been bottom three. Probably do better now Tiger powered. Langford - Village team improving pitch and facilities during close season. Excellent hospitality. Expect team to struggle. Leverstock Green - Again basic facilities. Mid table poss top half. London Colney - Totally unpredicatable. Oxhey Jets - Stupid name. Never been there but believe they have a bit of a following (including high porportion of t*ssers resulting in club know as Oxhey Morons in many circles). Mid table finish. Royston Town - Probably struggle again (and hopefully crash out of the FA Vase at first hurdle). Ruislip Manor - Finished last season on a high (beating local scum in league cup final). Improvements being made to ground and new manager in place. Hopefully do better in league in 06/07. The optimist in me says top six. St Mugs - New chairman New cash? Mid table / top half. Tring - Good facilities (excepts for lights). Top half. Welwyn GC - Always hard to beat. Should be up near the top. Naturally with the managerial / player merry go round during close season that I'm unaware of all of the above could be well out.
Rhodes
Nice one, excellent summary and you seem very clued up. This is Cliff by the way, thanks for the vote of confidence, how did you know I had left Haringey. Apparently Ruislip Manor have our former Manager Julian Hudson now who was also sacked by our Chairman Aki 'Sugar' Achillea for a string of bad results in the first half of last season. Does anyone know if Biggleswade Town have moved grounds, I quite liked 'Fairfield' as it goes but probably candidates for relegation.
Manorborn100
Hi Cliff, I read your posts with Potters Bar Town hence I know you are at Kentish Town now. I appear to be more clued up about the league than my own club. I know that Shayne Chandler is the new manager, but where does Julian Hudson fit in? I haven't heard his name mention in reference to us. I believe Bigg Les Town will be starting the season playing home games at Bedford United. There seems to be a delay in their new ground, but don't quote me on that.
Rhodes
No it seems I was mistaken with Julian Hudson, someone was winding me up and as you say Shayne Chandler is your new Manager. Is it right you're ground sharing with Hounslow Borough this season or has that fallen through, I think they got promoted to the Hellenic League Premier and needed a ground with floodlights. Were you sorry to lose your illustrious neighbours Hillingdon Borough, I heard your derbies were a little tasty however I can see them coming straight back down. Lato
There seems to be some confusion regarding the Hounslow ground share, more news as it arrives. To be honest Hillingdon generally had the better of our derbies when it came to league games but we seemed to have the better of cup ties - two Middlesex Charity Cup wins at their ground on penalties and the Challenge Trophy win (deep joy). Great comments by Manorborn (wonder who that is!!) re other grounds but you forgot the delicious tea at Big Les and reserved stand for managers entourage at Broxy Woxy
GRS67
I am hoping for a bit better then top six, how about top three
MANIC
Yes, Hertford Town are very well supported as you will all find out.
Mightymanor
Hi everybody Another Ruislip Manor fan here (boy we do get around don't we!). Can anyone give a decisive League constitution for 2006/07 SSML Premier Division yet? I know we lost Hanwell, Hillingdon and Oxford (promoted) and Harpenden (relegated), putting us down to 16. Then we gained Colney Heath (promoted) and from the old Ryman 2 Hertford Town, Chalfont St. Peter, Edgware Town, Flackwell Heath and Kingsbury (what's their new name?). So that put us upto 22, but then as I understand it we lost Flackwell again as they've taken up a place in another league. So is 21 the final number? An odd number of the teams for the season? GRS67
Yes 21 seems to be the final total. I thought that Wembley would have joined but they have gone to the CCL instead, why, I dont know. Flackwell were promoted after Barking withdrew from the Ryman.
NeutralFan
St Mugs - New Chairman, New Cash - Don't think so. New Chairman, New Manager but if anything I suspect less cash. Will be a pretty much changed side and looking a bit younger this season.
Manorborn100
I did put new cash question mark. Revision New chairman. No cash. Mid table / bottom half.
NeutralFan
I still wouldn't put them bottom half. I'd expect to see a good, ball playing, passing, well organised side over at the rec this year and I for one will be looking forward to seeing them progress this year. Well I suppose you didn't have to use the changing rooms! Couldn't swing a mouse in them. Pitch was a big slope from one end to the other as well. Rhodes
Well maybe the changing rooms at Fairfield are on the ropey side but the place had character, they made the best of what they had. Their pitch wasn't any worse than some of the Club's in the league such as Tring and Haringey Borough, does anyone know where they're supposed to be moving to, I expect Biggleswade United will miss the fierce rivalry if they move to the other side of town, their pitches were virtually next to each other Dens Park and Tannadice style. Manorborn100
Forget the Dundee rivalry try Rangers / Celtic times 100, then you'll be somewhere close.
