peter foster
I'm sorry to report that young Jason suffered what seems very likely to be a serious injury to ankle ligaments very early on in his debut today against Southend United's first team. Ribbit
Yeah there was something on the back of the Echo with Tilly saying he was 'concerned' about the state of the pitch. What have they been doing with it? Surely it hasn't been played on for months.
peter foster
The pitch was not a contributory factor to Jason's injury. No one at Southend, including Mr Tilson, was able to shed any light as to the origins of the Echo's piece. The club have spent a lot of money on the pitch during the close season and it was fine yesterday.
Historian
The pitch had nothing to do with Jason's injury, a tackle by Bradbury I think took both the ball and the player, from where I was it looked like most of the player rather than the ball, all the best for a speedy recovery Jason... Mr Gulls
Apparently the only reason Southend played Chelmsford was because Jeff asked Tilson if he would bring his team and use the game for Wardys Testimonial..! But then Chelmsford realised they would get a decent gate which would make them good money so they changed there minds which apparently left Tilson pissed off as he wouldn't have played Chelmsford becuase he knew the condition of the pitch would be poor, Tilson waas doing it because he played with Wardy for a good few years at the mighty Gulls.. Im pissed of that Wardys testimonial could have been played at Chelmsford, surly we should demand that something is organised at Park Lane for one of our all time legends.. I feel sorry for Jason, he should have signed for Stevenage and played on a much better surface and stadium..

Canvey Fan 1926
the pitch is in great condition at chelmsford <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> and was not the reason for jasons injury. lots of chelmsford supporters all have said how good the pitch is looking and how much better it is than last year. my dad has only had 6 weeks to work on it instead of the 12 weeks he had pre-season at canvey. the pitch was in such a bad state when he first started working over there you cant really moan if its not up to '1st class' standard. Mr Gulls
That wasn' an official one, he was promised a game against a league club during this Pre Season.. Can you clear this up Wardy if you read the post
LEWIS JAMES HARKER
Apparently Southend won 1-0 .'IF' you want to have a look for their reactions, and i think someone has done some ratings for them Minton gets MOTM with 9/10. i won't go on too much, but here is the link HERE
