Good to see Baldrick there last night!

It's an unusual occasion if he's not there. Towards the end of last season he hardly missed a game. I think it's a great sign of this club that so many ex players keep coming back to watch and support.

I'm not too concerned about last nights result. You really can't take the pre-season fixtures too seriously can you?

Well done to Bryan for opening the scoring.

Well I think you can as a Manager as a wake up call. You know which trialists to send packing.

Most town fans needed to sit down and rest after Bryan Hammatt scored the opening goal. Don't do that to us Bryan just remember shock is not good for us.

The bit that made me smile was the couple behind the goal in the first half kissing and cuddling. Poor old Father Jack was then distracted from his football by someone else getting amorous. lol!

Little Jimmy Faulkner ? I'm pleased he's getting a chance,
Dave Hunt ? Didn't He play briefly for you last season ,He don't put the effort in he should and pulls out of 50-50 tackles too often.Or at least thats when we had him with us.

Only four of last seasons squad started the game.I'm sure a lot of those involved against Spurs will not be offered contracts, and many players who will eventually feature this coming season, were not involved in the game.Even so,the standard was poor.We had more of our regular players watching the game from the stands, than were actually involved.Whats all that about? Will be interesting to see what team we put out gainst Barnet.

PS..Hunt has not played for us before.

I know it was only the 1st pre season game but i did not rate many of the players/trialists that wore the town shirt fri night. The one player that stood out for me was the fella who came on as sub in 2nd half and played centre mid, he had quite a good left foot and took some good set pieces not sure of his name though and if he's a trialist or not.

I know that there have been more than a few players leave over the summer but does anyone know what has happened to the likes of Al-James, Valendia, Woodward, Negus, Disco Dave (i did see him at some point but not on the pitch) and anyone else i may have missed out on that have not been mentioned on here or clubs website.

Fortunately we've never struggled in any league we've ever been in (never been out of the top 4),and we don't intend for that to happen this season. If players on trial are no good ,they will not make the squad, simple as that.I doubt if more than three or four of the line-up aginst Spurs will be in the starting 11 that runs out aginst Hornchurch for our first league game.

Yes a lot of our fans were very pleased to see little Jimmy Faulkner playing for us. I thought Dave Hunt played for you although there may have been some suggestion he was about to sign for us.

It seems to me that you need more height in the team. Okay, so Tottenham were fitter, faster and stronger than virtually any team you will meet in the League this season, but without some height, at least through the spine of the team, you may struggle in a lot of games.

Ah but haven't you heard about the Ryman league new height restrictions? No player over 6 foot! All pitch entrances are to have a wooden measuring post so the ref can measure the taller players as they enter the playing area to ensure they conform to the new height regulations.

Look Jim you may recall and quite certainly, as you are the club's statistician, you do recall, but on the 22nd July 2003 we lost to Bishops Stortford 8-1 but that season we went on to get to the finals of the Middlesex Senior Cup and finished 4th in the league winning 68% of the games we played this has only been exceeded in our first season when we won 76% of the games we played.

Last night was interesting. There was a good run down the wing in the second half by one of the subs who came on and in the first half we saw a dash of speed by the number 2 getting into a forward position. There were clearly weaknesses but in the second half the Spurs goalie was troubled once or twice and against a weaker defence I am sure that the result would have been more respectable.

What do people expect that youth side got to the semi - finals of the youth cup and have been playing together for a number of years. Ours was a team of trialist who probably did not know each other's name before the kick off.

All round an enjoyable game and the result. Who cares?

and the season before you got bashed by braintree but won the league

The only new player who looked useful, was the black central defender who played second half. The rest looked dreadfully slow (i hope that was just down to fitness). Are these new players really supposed to be better than the ones who have left?? Are the like of Purcell and Faulkerner really good enough for this level??
From my understanding,Towns probable first choice keeper was not their last night.
With many ex-players in the crowd last night(Chopper,Baldwin and Butler..etc),i'm sure the 'crowd X1' would have given Spurs a much tougher game.

Chandler still on Holiday
Pitch was staw and dust
Team of unknowns who performed very poorly.

Basically dissapointing all round

You didn't enjoy yourself then?.
