I don't think last night's performance gives much of an indication for next season. Those Spurs lads were sheer class and as a Spurs fan as well it does bode well for the future of Spurs. It is how the new side gels over the next few friendlies that will be important. Games against teams at around our level are more important than the game against Barnet. Good to see Hammett score. I wasn't his biggest fan last season but would welcome a return to past form so the jury is out. I have to say that I am worried about the goalkeeping situation though.

All in all a good evening followed by a few good pints of Broadside at the Wheatsheaf!

The only new player who looked useful, was the black central defender who played second half. The rest looked dreadfully slow (i hope that was just down to fitness). Are these new players really supposed to be better than the ones who have left?? Are the like of Purcell and Faulkerner really good enough for this level??

From my understanding,Towns probable first choice keeper was not their last night.

With many ex-players in the crowd last night(Chopper,Baldwin and Butler..etc),i'm sure the 'crowd X1' would have given Spurs a much tougher game.

Chandler still on Holiday

Pitch was staw and dust

Team of unknowns who performed very poorly.

Basically dissapointing all round <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I have to say even I am concerned at the number of players who have gone this summer. At our level it is natural to see a selection of players move on and new faces come in. Some decide to just go and others are replaced by better players. Such is the way of the world!

We seem to have lost more than the norm.....

I agree it is difficult to judge a side on last night - and there are sveral players still to come in but it is a tad worrying...

Look Jim you may recall and quite certainly, as you are the club's statistician, you do recall, but on the 22nd July 2003 we lost to Bishops Stortford 8-1 but that season we went on to get to the finals of the Middlesex Senior Cup and finished 4th in the league winning 68% of the games we played this has only been exceeded in our first season when we won 76% of the games we played.

Last night was interesting. There was a good run down the wing in the second half by one of the subs who came on and in the first half we saw a dash of speed by the number 2 getting into a forward position. There were clearly weaknesses but in the second half the Spurs goalie was troubled once or twice and against a weaker defence I am sure that the result would have been more respectable.

What do people expect that youth side got to the semi - finals of the youth cup and have been playing together for a number of years. Ours was a team of trialist who probably did not know each other's name before the kick off.

All round an enjoyable game and the result. Who cares?

Totally agree Mr H.

All these "panick comments" are crazy.

It was a group of footballers put together for the night, there is no saying that they will be the first team when the season starts.

Of all the players, the keeper was poor, but word is that he is NOT our intended keeper.

The Spurs team were class, they played as if they knew each other and were very composed on the ball all through the team.

In the first hald they had 5 shots on goal and 4 went in. Enough said.

Sure the number of Players that have left is a bit alarming, but have we seen the replacements yet ?

Let's make "panick comments" after the Bedford game when there will only be 2 weeks to go before the first League match.

Calm down you lot............. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

That was the side that played last night...

Bad luck guys... Good luck for the season <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

Well the words outclassed stick in the throat but yes Spurs outclassed us but hey just think how big the margin would have been if we had fielded some of those released? lol

I see we suffered from Sven's disease - Not enough strikers. Bryan Hammatt off injured. Ricci Crace off looking quite seriously injured. We were Pole axed - that reminds me what happened to our new Polish signing?

No sign of our new super keeper! Someone said he had lost his mobile - hope he finds it soon!

That Danny Devito for Spurs looked good shame we cant afford him on loan!

Good to see Baldrick there last night!
