Just to tell you a little story that has happened today - I posted a message on the sports forum - yesterday about sponsorship or lack of it over the last 4 years - I had written to them on 3 occassion and had no replies .... He was very very angry saying that I should have called him, but I just though that nothing was forth coming ...Ok I was wrong about not calling him for that I apologized.

However during our conversation I mentioned the fact before the Harrogate match we only got the story about Velli Hakki , which was hot news I grant the Observer, but it was old news at the time of this match , and I asked why did they not build up the forthcoming match as well , this had been put in the sports reports and nothing really made of the most important game for Slough in 4 years....

I can't really see what harm was done by quoting the facts, however after the conversation I was left very hollow and just for interest how do others feel about our coverage in the Slough Observer !

In fact Bryce told me that he had no letters delivered and that our problem was with the post office, but I did send out three letters ! over the last 3 season,s as a part of my brief to raise money for our club.

or I am going mad ....

I do go on record to apologize to Bryce that I should have contacted him on the issue of sponsorship , on the other matter it would be just interesting to know how others feel !!

kind regards chris <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wavey.gif" alt="" />

What about the Express? Fair enough they put some money in for the F.A. Cup game, but what about the rest of the season?

Do the Observer really need prompting to know we would be looking for sponsorship? Now that they actually have a reporter from the paper attending, there shouldn't be any excuse at all as to why they could not have asked us?

Chris, can you not email him the quote or sponsorship details? Not receiving the post is a very very poor excuse from what is turning into a very very poor excuse for a local paper.

In Friday's paper they ran a story about who is better, Slough Town or Windsor and Eton, and were inconclusive in their findings. Quality journalism!

I personally think the Observer gives better coverage to Slough matches than the Express, though this may come down to the fact that they have more time to cover midweek matches before going to press. I've got to agree though, the coverage before the FA Cup match was pitiful, though if the Express hadn't come up with some glory-hunting sponsorship money I doubt we'd have been given more than half a page.

Slough Rhino's seem to be getting quite a lot of coverage right now..... wonder if the journalists get any perks from the sponsors???

Two weeks ago I wrote a barbed letter to the Editor of The Informer (not knowing they were part of the Express) regarding their coverage of Veli's sentencing.

My point was that they had sensationalised what happened by branding him a thug across the front page without reference to his exemplary behaviour during matches and also his posting to this board on the eve of his sentence which, I believe, showed the true side of Veli.

My real gripe was the fact that the Informer, and to a lesser extent The Express, give significantly less coverage to the football side of The Rebels than they do the problems at the Club. The Editor countered my argument stating that they sponsored the match against Harrogate Railway therefore demonstrating their support for Slouth Town. Support is very easy to show when it's the biggest game in several years though. Where were they the following Tuesday against Kingstonian?

This, in my opinion, is not true of The Observer. They report fairly and consistently and as such will always have my readership over the other two inferior local papers.
