Matt H
Doesn't sound like we've got anything for him yet! Ace Boylan joins Grays By Dick Marshall Canvey goal ace Lee Boylan has joined Conference side Grays Athletic. Once Jeff King signed over his interest in the Island club to the new management, who are representing the fans, it was inevitable that Gulls would not be able to afford the £1,000 per week wage of the striker, 27, for long. Having done it for a fortnight they cancelled Boylan's contract and Grays chairman Mick Woodward was delighted at capturing Boylan's services. "We have done a deal with Canvey and it's all based on how well we do in the FA Cup and the FA Trophy and where we finish in the league," said Woodward. "At the end of the day if we do well, Canvey do well. If we don't do well and Lee doesn't do well, we're all stuffed."
Taking the Mick
Pretty good deal for both parties really. Boylan can leave you a legacy of not only memories but finacial if he does well. Stuff of legends if you ask me
eggy
Jeff King makes money out of the deal not Canvey Island Football club.. Apparently the deal is a season long loan, if Boylan dosen't do well he goes back to Mr King.. Heard that on good authority
Matt H
How can he go back to Jeff when, after this season his contract is up anyway? He'll be free to go wherever he wants then.

ronin
It would be nice if we could have the Boylan transfer cleared up Did we (CIFC) pay his wages for the last 2 weeks? Will we (CIFC) recieve any bonus payment if Boylan/Grays do well this season? We were told recently that the club was not liable for any of the remaining contracted players wages and that any fee recieved for Lee Boylan would be going to Jeff King as part of the deal for him to hand the club over, did this change? Have the Echo got their facts wrong?
Ribbit
Providing we did pay Boylan's wages for a couple of weeks, as long as we get them back from Grays (obviously in the form of their 'payment' for him), I don't care. I think the Echo must have it wrong though. I don't think it's legitmate to have a player contracted to an actual person, rather than a club, so we probably haven't paid anything. eggy
I presume Jeff has been giving Canvey Island football club the money for Lee Boylan's wages so that we didn't have to stump up the cash. There is no way the new club could have paid Boylan 1k a week for the last month
The Great Eckscape
Everything that has been agreed is to the benefit of Canvey Island FC, of this there is no doubt what so ever.
ronin
I don`t doubt that things have been worked out for the benefit of CIFC but i do feel things need to be cleared up officially or the question of a potential payment from Grays will come up over and over again especially after the piece in tonights Echo. The Great Eckscape
Certain issues cannot be detailed in full due to their complexity. I would suggest that if possible, people accept that if we release every piece of information fully that the club would not be able to operate. After all, you don't find every other club outlining the full details of players contracts etc. Another thing to remember is that there are TWO clubs involved in this transfer, and we must take their interest into consideration. Benny
Well said Great Escape. We dont hear clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea outlining the in's and out's of transfers. If the club makes any money out of the transfer then it will be a bonus. In this day and age and at this level you will hardly ever find money changing hands for players. I think we should just thank Lee for his outstanding contribution to the clubs history and wish him all the best for the future.

That will be a no comment then <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I understand we can`t be given information about everything that happens at our club but when the Chairman of Grays is quoted as saying "We have done a deal with Canvey and it's all based on how well we do in the FA Cup and the FA Trophy and where we finish in the league," said Woodward. "At the end of the day if we do well, Canvey do well. If we don't do well and Lee doesn't do well, we're all stuffed." I think people are likely to ask questions about the deal.
