Rhodes
I quite fancy Kentish Town to pull up trees this season in Division 1, what d'you reckon, they're a very ambitious Club with a lot of young players coming through.
Football Man
Afternoon, Clifford. Are you not with Haringey anymore?
Rhodes
Hi Kevin, no I'm not, I've joined Kentish Town on a free transfer, a new challenge. How's it going with you.
GRS67
Do Kentish Town have anything at all do with the area that they take their name from in North London? I know they dont play in Kentish Town, its in herts isn't ?
Rhodes
Gavin, thanks for your interest. Kentish Town are very much from that area and were formed in 1994 by two parents who were concerned about the lack of opportunity to play football in the area for young players. It was not until 2003/2004 however that we took the step up from Youth football into Senior football and joined the SSML Division 2 where we played at the King George IV playing fields in Barnet. We were promoted the following season but as we needed floodlights to play in Division 1 a groundshare was arranged with Haringey Borough who unceremoniously showed us the door after only one season. Last season Potters Bar kindly helped us out and this season we hope to share with Hendon who I gather aren't leaving Claremont Road afterall. Sorry to send you to sleep but as you can see we are very much Kentish Town based however are sadly forced to live a nomadic existence due to the lack of green spaces and sporting facilities in the Borough of Camden. I may pop over to see a few games then. I live just down the road from Hendon FC. Thankfully they are still at Claremont road, not sure for how long though. Any idea of admission prices for games in div 1?
Rhodes
Gavin - Nice one, let me know when you're coming over and I'll leave you a complimentary on the gate, admission for Kentish Town games will be a fiver I guess including a programme which I'll be doing, I'm planning to give Broxbourne, Leverstock Green and Hoddesdon Town a run for their money this season with their 'War and Peace' style programmes. Obviously all the away teams in SSML Division 1 will enjoy coming to Hendon, it will be like a cup final for them.
GRS67
Nice one Rhodes, £5 ince a programme is not bad. I think its a fiver for all the prem teams but that does not include a programme. I heard that Hoddesdon have an excellent programme, but not seen it. Edgware's is a pretty standard effort, but not too bad. I found the website for Kentish Town, nice layout, but no real info, I guess once the season starts. Are the colours dark and light blue as they were the colours on the site. Even though Claremont road is in need of urgent ground repairs, as you say at this level and div 1 teams will enjoy playing in a 'real' ground. Sames goes with the White Lion Ground Edgware, did Kentish Town look into the possibility of playing at Edgware?
Rhodes
The Kentish Town Website is currently being over hauled, it should be sorted by the start of the season. The Club colours are mostly Coventry sky blue and yes we did look into the possibility of ground sharing with Edgware Town but it was a non starter. It's a shame we're not in the Premier League as I'm sure Edgware and Kingsbury would love to play at Hendon being local as well as Hertford Town, I think those three are likely to rule the roost this season as well as Harefield. NeutralFan
Hoddesdon won't like you trying to take their programme awards away from them! I know a lot of very hard work goes into the Hoddy programme, actually I think it's the cause of some of the teams downfall as players are too busy reading it to listen to the team talks!! Rhodes
Yes I think its Jane who does the Hoddesdon Town programme, I plan to give her a run for her money this season but doubt I can compete with their weighty tome. I also hope to make the Website all singing all dancing in the next couple of weeks, I used to do Haringey Borough's site when I was there up until recently, I gather is no longer being maintained which is a shame as I always made a point of keeping it bang up to date with up to the second news around the bazaars. Lato
Yep, I always enjoyed reading your spin on all things Haringey, Cliff. Hopefully you can do the same thing for Kentish Town.
GRS67
Nice one Rhodes, so you are a player and you still get time to do all this? you want to come to Edgware and make our programme/site the best? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Rhodes
Thanks for the vote of confidence but that's just me, no point in doing things by halves and it's all for the love of the beautiful game at our level. I'm not a player, as I was just explaining on another thread I was at Haringey Borough last season but fell out with the Chairman over there namely Aki 'Sugar' Achillea, he's in the Deadly Doug Ellis and Ken Bates mould and doesn't want progress at the Club despite the potential being huge due to the catchment area they are in. Rhodes
Er thanks for that Kevin and less of the 30 years, I'm a player in other ways now, where's the lovely Paula as I fancy my chances. How are things at Potters Bar, what sort of campaign are you expecting, I'll miss seeing you turn up at Haringey for Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League and FA Youth Cup games and don't expect a programme when you do go down there. GRS67
So who do you support Rhodes? were you at Haringey for a long time? I used to go and watch Haringey Greyhounds Ice Hockey, I am going to try and catch a few games at ally pally this season.
NeutralFan
Out of interest have PB got anyone to run their ressies yet?
Rhodes
Gavin - I still support Haringey Borough but as I said earlier I was sacked by their Chairman Aki 'Sugar' Achillea hence my involvement with Kentish Town for the time being at least, they're an up and coming Club and playing at Hendon this season will be a bonus as it will make us the Man Utd of the 1st Division. Interesting about the ice hockey but I heard that Kazam is about to buy Alexandra Palace so I expect Haringey Greyhounds days are numbered in terms of playing up there. GRS67
Who is Kazam? I will defo try and make some games at Claremont road and cheer on Kentish Town. Once the fixtures are out I will check to see when Kentish town are at home and will try and make it if I can.
