Scott Ward plays for Gillingham.

[color:"blue"]Gillingham played their first friendly of the pre-season tonight. However their 3 Trinidad & Tobasco players were not available. As such they had to put 'trialist' keepers in the side, who should turn up in the second half but Scott Ward, who has probably abandonned out of money Crawley Town.

For the first sixty minutes of the game the goalie was Brian Murphy didn't he play George in 'George & Mildred' in the late 1980's?

He was a decent keeper in front of a terrible defence in his time with us,and took alot of unfair blame.

Whilst we are on about the 'class of 2004' and ex-Margate and Crawley goalies;i saw Phil Smith play the first half for a strong Swindon Town side against Forest Green Rovers last night.

He was ok but not his normal outstanding self

A bit boring to talk about ex-Players, but on Teletext West sport news that Phil Smith has got a one year contract with Swindon from Denis Wise and is expected to push their current keeper for the no 1 jersey.

Margate do get a mention as the teletext message does say 'the former Margate keeper'
