They were saying diabetes complications earlier, but are now saying cancer.

 

I liked Syd Barrett-era Floyd. Very cool.

I've only heard Relics? Was he on other albums?

Relics is a compilation of early Floyd stuff, I believe.

 

He was on their debut, Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, and I think he was lobbed out mid-way through the follow-up, Saucerful Of Secrets.

 

He was also on the early singles Arnold Layne and See Emily Play.

There was a tribute on the Beeb News this morning.

 

If the guy is only on one and a half albums that seems a little over the top in my opinion!

It's not so much that he was "only on one and a half albums". He formed the fking band.

 

He probably effectively invented prog-rock, albeit in its earliest forms, single-handedly!

I read somewhere that they used to do a 30-minute version live in the early days, most of which was improvised. I'm not sure anyone would get away with that these days.
