The old boys are doing well.

Good to see - we all KNOW they are good players but unfortunately are not "unemployed" like the new "full-time" players joining the club and hence made LD return in the evening to train them, and hence made them unwanted (despite being our best performers over the past few Conference seasons!)

"Full Time" - strange word to use for guys who are basically out of work because they can't make the grade in the league and have no other employment options.

Still what do I know, I'm just a stupid "part time" supporter.

I know modern-day friendlies are farcical but that's ridiculous.

nice to see another positive post....players move on..get over it.

That's a somewhat carefree attitude towards a player who's played over 500 games for us, isn't it?

RR's description of full-timers at this level was a crude generalization, but the rest of the post was, I hate to say, perfectly valid.

JC - Thanks for the support

My generalisation was about the majority of full timers "we" have signed not at other clubs

I am all for full time football if the club is ready for promotion, with a good stadium, good support and high revenue sponsors

We have none of these and until we do why bother with the full-time status and discard good Conference players?

It certainly seems clear that the Club has gone full-time because everybody else in the division is or has, rather than because the Club is ideally suited to it.

Even though it's hard to compare with higher finishes as a part-time club of seasons gone by, when there were still a reasonable number of part-time sides left in the Conference, the necessity of the full-time transition will certainly be doubted if, say, we fail to see a consistent improvement of a few places in the division or so over the next few years.
