Who will Win the South Midlands League

Recommended Posts

I NEVER Said Edgware would win the league last season. I said it would be a season of consolidation. We ended up 7th our highest posistion for a number of years.

This season we are in a weaker division albeit still step 5.

The teams to watch are going to be those that swithed from div 2.

Flackwell Heath / Chalfont/Hertford, depending if they have kept the nucelaus of last season's squads.

Edgware have not only kept their squad from last season but have added to it.

Anything other then a top three finish will be seen as a step backward.

If we can get into gear early, then I dont see why we can't win this divison.

You were a little unfair on Haringey Borough earlier chaps, the potential at Coles Park is huge in the catchment area they're in however the Club is poorly run thanks to their Chairman Aki 'Sugar' Achillea. With Edgware, Kingsbury, Hertford and Colney Heath along with all the other local Clubs it should be a good league infact I'm surprised not more Club's from the disbanded Ryman Division 2 applied to join it.

....

Wembely could be kicking themselves if they struggle in the CCL, they should be in the SSML

I don't get this weaker league comment you keep coming out with Gavin. Traditionally less established clubs than the old Ryman 2 but I would definately not say weaker.. reason Brook left the SSML to go into Ryman 2 was because it was easier to win / get promoted from!!

Nah they moved to get a better standard of football NF !. Div 2 was a stronger league in depth. I think the top sides in each league were on a par it was just the also rans that weren't

Thats actually fair to say, it's prob due to the number of sides I have never seen play at that level, compared to the more established Isthmian sides, that I am making the asumption that its a weaker divison then Isthmian 2.

Time shall tell, but I dont see why Edgware cant be right up there amongst the sides that challange to win the title.

NF - Thanks for the reply, you know your stuff as all those things and more certainly took place at Coles Park, you may also recall a near riot at the place when we played Brook House a few years back and the ground was closed down for some time, I think the incident even made the 9 o clock news. Also we had the fire recently which was started by local youths who have nothing better to do, the site needs to be properly secured but the Club still has huge potential if run in the right way but it isn't hence why we always struggle.
