Going into penalties.Expert penalty taker.Gets sent off for a stupid head butt. Will this ruin Frances chances after extra-time.What a stupid way to end your career. He could have been the star,he could have ended his career on a high.Will the penalty shoot out go against France now.We shall see in a fwew minutes.If France lose out on penalties Zidane will surely get some harsh treatment back home.Or will France get lucky. He had better hope France DO make it through as champions otherwise his life will be hell!

Sorry but I think Beckham desreved all that treatment at the time.His stupidity could have been the reason we failed then. Zidane's behaviour,likewise could have been the reason for France losing out too.
I can assure you I am not brain dead & I was one of those feeling cheated by Beckham at the time & I voiced my opinion in the same way as many others did.
Its all over & done with now but at the time the treatment Beckham got was warranted in my book.
Zidane is fortunate in that he wont be open for any verbal abuse of the same purely because he wont be seen on the football pitch again.
Both players acted stupidly & without thought for their fellow players &/or country.

Depends what you're defining as Beckham-style treatment, though. You 'voiced your opinion', that's fine.

 

I'm talking of the brain-dead minority that take their frustration at not being good enough to win a World Cup to the sort of lengths that includes death threats, threats against a player's family and vandalism of their property. A sending-off is often only one reason a team fails. Being rubbish is another.

Surely they both let their teammates down at crucial times though Steve didnt they. Both teams went on to lose.I think theres a big likeness.A little kick out or a head butt. No difference in my view. Still I have "voiced my opinion" enough on this now..so I've been told.

Just to add that I agree Stu that over the top reactions such as death threats are out of order.A few verbals here & there should be enough.
