Polish X1 3-2 Slough Town

Summary

In a poor match a Slough Town side made up of trialists lost 3-2 to a Polish X1 in a 60 minute match.

Someone called Jay-Jay (Not no Josias Carbon!) and Leon Woodruffe scored our goals.

Of last seasons squad:

- Rav Braich

- Leon Woodruffe

- George Moleski

- Michael Alexis

- Ian Lovergove

- Mark West

- Gareth McCleary

All played some part in the match with former Rebel Chris Andrews helping Slough out in goal. A substitute 16-year old keeper was on the bench for us from the Reading Academy and came on for the last 10 minutes.

Leigh Mason (back) and Darron Wilkinson (recovering from his operation) were not fit to play, while rumours suggest that Christian Metcalfe is training with Maidenhead United. Steve Daly was unavaliable.

The only real new 'name' that played in the match was former Yeading and Hendon defender Marc Leach, who would be a very good signing if we do get him. Former Magpie Matt Glynn is also apparently training with us.

I would not read too much into the game as I don't think we will be seeing a lot of the trialists again. Maybe the right back Jay-Jay who scored the first goal, but apart from that pretty unimpressive. In all honesty I think I'm better than some of the trialists on show today!

Apparetly we have eight players (not playing today) lined-up to sign so Maidenhead in just under two weeks should be a much better showing!

All I can say is that I hope those eight players are better than the 'Trialists' that I saw today because most of them were no better than Sunday park players.

It's looking gloomier by the minute with the possible loss of Metcalf and now Staines having got their hands on Telemaque I can't see him coming to Slough.

I think Eddie's going to need a magic wand to produce a team thats going to compete with even the so called 'also rans' of the division.

Unless thing change dramatically I would say we are red hot favourites to finish bottom of the pile.

Well if he does leave, we'll get a fee for him, the money for which can obviously help us stablise the playing side.

Eight first team signings to follow, and if they are of similar quality to Leach, I'll be very happy.

Gary, are you sure there would be a fee involved?

I know he has a clause saying if a team from a higher league make an approach he can get out of his contract. I would be surprised if Gareth would have tied himself down to the point where we could demand a fee for him.

I thought the main idea of putting him on a contract was so that no team could approach him behind our backs.

Taken from Windsor Message board.

"
Jarvo's not wanted... but going to Maidenhead or Hayes maybe Slough Town? so i hear."

Could it possibly be?

Two replies in one here. RR - not sure. I'm only guessing as I don't know the full ins and outs of the contract. If it were a league club, it would be nice to think we'd get a fee/series of first team appearances in friendlies.

Ted - if that were the case, I'm returning my season ticket and no more camera work/website work.

But Gary, we all look forward to seeing him, and instead of twice a year, it could be twice a week. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
