Didn't we lose a game to Wembley (1-0 I think) where there was a mass brawl and about 6 or 7 players got sent off. Can't remember the exact details - I was quite young at the time!

I think you're right Mr Maul - I was there - Jan 83 I think when St A and Wembley were top 2 in Div One. 0-1 down and mass brawl by the goal at the York Road end.....

Iain Dowie had his jaw broken from a kick while on the ground, Bob got sent off with a guy who I think was called Simpson who I do not think played again. Steve Oliver got away with an absolute haymaker and Wembley had 3 sent off including the Keeper and one player broke a leg.

 

At the end of the game the stand in keeper taunted every one behind the goal pointing out they were now going to win the league. The rest is history as we won the league on the last day on goal difference.

 

The game got a write up in the Daily Telegraph, or rather the above did.
