From Horley Website

Information from the Combined Counties League has been received where the CC Committee has recommended to the members

that Horley Town Football Club be relegated to Division One of the CC League for Season 2006/2007.

This decision was based on the FA Ground Grading Scheme, requirements for clubs to have in place certain facilities for spectators and players and officials. It is clear that the break up of the Ryman League 2 and "ground share" schemes, and promotion from lower divisions has created this situation. HTFC will be making a representation to the League, about the plans we have in place for the ground improvements at the NEW DEFENCE and also questioning the validity of the Gradings awarded to other clubs in the League by the Combined Counties Management Committee.

Will be interesting to see what Horley have to say.

I find it strange that you can "order" a stand and have it installed by August 8th.

Surely the deadline should have been the facilties as of 1st June. Didn't Merstham fail there Ryman grading because the stand was delayed or something along those lines.

What I find more strange however is that clubs have known about this since August 2005 so why wait until the last minute to purchase a stand if they thought they could possibly be relegated due to ground grading. The clubs knew we would get some teams from the Ryman 2.

Three reasons spring to mind.

1) Even with the stand in place some Clubs would get relegated if all Clubs achieved "A" status.
2) Funding for such projects isn't instantly available - grants often take months for approval.
3) The FA document actually states that Clubs have until season 2007/8 to comply - it's the CCL that have imposed the requirements earlier
